(More customer reviews)For Christmas this year, we (one set of grandparents) bought the Fisher Price Loving Family Dollhouse, with the furniture that was included. We have twin granddaughters who are 3 and a half years old. We then added more furniture kits and offered the option to the other grandparents (who own a cabin) to purchase the Cabin set, and to other aunts and uncles to buy whatever set they wanted. We needed pieces from each set to make the "world" our twins inhabit. We liked that there were pieces we could mix and match to actually set up the house like their own. We also liked that there were children and adults of different colorings and ages to act as the various people in their lives, as we 4 grandparents help with childcare every week. We found some of the previous style grandparents (for instance the previous "shop owner" with his pocketed apron, filled with some dollhouse tools (not from FP) purchased online, became the grandpa who likes to fix things. The other grandpa, for whom we found a used fishing vest, and dollhouse fish and pole, became their "papa" who likes to fish. We set up tray tables to the right and left of their windowseat cubby to provide room for them to stand and play and move around together, with the house in the middle, the cabin to one side, and the backyard to the other. They (and all of us adults) enjoy playing with the attractive, well-built, positive representations of the twins' everyday life. We also liked that there were baby twins to represent them as babies, and also toddler and older children, to be them as they get older. Our hope is that they will use this toy for a long, long time. (You can add on "wings" to the house, by just laying a shoe box on its side, and another on top of it :) And because Fisher Price toys last, I was able to find used individual pieces from previous versions of this toy. (P.S. We still have Fisher Price little people sets here at OUR house for the twins to play with, which belonged to their father who is 38, and were played with by all of his 3 younger siblings.)
