I am a huge My Scene fan, and have most of the dolls. I collect My Scene. But, the guy dolls keep getting worse! In the beginning two years ago, the guy dolls looked good, and had different personalities and styles. Now, they seem to be the same.
River is supposed to have the rocker look, with black pants and a studded belt, a cool rocker tee, and, of course, his leather jacket. Hudson is supposed to be sporty and active looking (like he is), with athletic pants, a large tee shirt, and tennis shoes. Sutton, who is from London, traditionally has a London-inspired classy look, with nice shirts and slacks. Bryant, who is actually no longer included, had a vintage look, with bell bottom pants and vintage tees. Ellis is the one with the high-class yet laid-back look.
However, recently, the guys all seem to have the same preppy look, all wearing the nice clothes. It's annoying, because the clothes don't reflect their personalities. Isn't My Scene supposed to represent being yourself and being true to your inner style? That's what I thought. But now,the guys all look the same with their style. I wish Mattel would go back to allowing them to express their character, and wear what is thier style.
Also, the head and hair is terrible! Hudson, for one, is supposed to have a sporty hair cut, not some preppy, pretty-boy 'do. That is not at all his style, and doesn't quite match up with his personality. Same with the other guys in Club Birthday...I hate Sutton's hair.
The head molds are the worst part. A long time ago, the guys had normal looking heads. In the Out and About series, they got hideous looking smiles, which kind of ruined them, but I got them anyway. However, I can hardley bare to look at these new ones. The Club Birthday and hollywood guys are beyond hideous. They are looking up in a stupid way, and, sadly, remind me of Bratz Boyz. If I wanted a doll that looked like that, I would be buying Bratz! My Scene dolls should not even resemble Bratz Boyz! This dolls look terrible.
The new guy dolls are a HUGE disappointment. I hope Mattel will go back to the original head molds, styles, hairstyles, etc.
