My wife took me to Toys R' Us the day after our anniversary. She wanted to buy me a toy for my Star Wars collection and she actually had thought of buying me "Ask Yoda" (which is the predecessor toy of "Call Upon Yoda") for the longest time. We looked around and I wasn't really interested in picking out a toy. After looking through the isles I noticed something at a bottom shelf. I'm kinda tall so I wouldn't doubt if I hadn't seen it at first but there he was, "Call Upon Yoda". I've never grabbed a toy so fast (well, it was the only one left). I felt like a little kid again. I started pressing his hands and was just amazed about how neat it was to see Yoda's eyes, mouth and ears move in a realistic manner. He also gave me some negative comments such as "You have interupted my meditation" and "Perhaps another time". Regardless, we took Yoda home.
I got into the instructions on the way home to prepare myself. The way you "communicate" with Yoda is very simple. Yoda even has markings on his right and left arm in case you forget which arm is defined as a negative or positive answer. Yoda's right arm portraits an "X" (negative, no, cycle through selections) and Yoda's left arm will show "V" (checkmark for positive, yes, select) once you pull back one of his sleeves. You can "wake" Yoda by pressing his right or left hand at any time, when Yoda has gone into meditation (off mode). Pressing his right or left hand will give you comments (sometimes silly). If you don't press his hands, Yoda will ask you if you want to engage into an activity which consists of him telling you a story from any of the 6 Star Wars episodes, him asking you trivia questions revolving around Star Wars characters or him answering your yes or no questions. If you are familiar with the "Magic 8 Ball", Yoda beats this toy.
The "game modes" can be accessed by pressing both of the jedi's hands at the same time. You can select Story Mode, Trivia Mode or Ask A Question Mode which are all fun to play with.
If the little jedi master is still in "on mode", he will let you know when he goes into "off mode" by telling you that he needs to meditate.
You can turn Yoda completely off by sliding a switch at the bottom of the toy. The switch lets you select Yoda's "behaviours" PLAY, OFF and TRY ME.
"Call Upon Yoda" is an awesome toy to own which amazingly stores alot of information revolving around Star Wars and comes to life by moving his eyes, mouth, ears, head, arms and upper body. Hey, maybe in the future "Call Upon Yoda" will be a walking Star Wars encyclopedia. Who knows?!
Yoda now resides on my office desk next to my computer monitor and he seems to be happy there with all of my other Star Wars collections. I am very thankful that my wife made my day. You should ask your wife (or girlfriend) to get you one ;)
