(More customer reviews)My two daughters, 5 and 7, both got Zylie bears a few weeks ago and have become instant devotees of this trend-setting, intrepid little bear. My older daughter enjoys reading the Zylie adventures, as well as snuggling with her at night when she goes to bed. As a mom, I am so impressed by the quality of the construction. The craftmanship exceeds any other plush toy I've seen--the clothes are so well made (and stylish) I wish they had a women's line! And the bear itself is cuddly and soft, unlike the hard casing on the typical babydoll.
My younger daughter is obsessed with switching up the outfits, playing with the accessories and acting out Zylie's various adventures. She especially loves the passport which can track all of the action. She already wants to get a Shen bear for her birthday, to add to her Zylie family.
With the combination of the Zylie story and its "lovey" bear body, I predict that Zylie will be the hot toy for 2010. Move over American Girl!

Return Of The King Talking Deluxe Gollum Review

(More customer reviews)I love Gollum/Smeagol... and Lord of the Rings. So I was very excited to see how fantastic-looking this figure is. The face sculpt is just amazing-- the best likeness of this character you will find, at any price (better than the deluxe statues!). And best of all, you get TWO interchangable heads, one of a sweetly smiling Smeagol, and a twisted, gnarling Gollum. You should know that the figure comes packed randomly, with some wearing one head or the other. There is a storage space for his extra head (and the fish he can grasp) in the base. The other great thing is that he has 22 random phrases, including the full "Wish for a Fish" song, all in Anthony Serkis' real voice. The beautifully illustrated box really enhances the product.
Now for the down side (I guess this review is more Gollum than Smeagol!). The two AA batteries that come in the talking base are extremely weak and wear fast; when changed out to something better, his voice is loud again... but you can't seal the battery compartment again, the screw holding it together won't go back in. This happened to two different figures for me. Also, beyond his great grasping hands and articulated arms, he is not very poseable. His knees don't even bend, so he can't do anything but squat. But the holes in his feet don't even line up with the pegs on the base, so it is difficult to keep him from falling over. The legs pivot at the hips, but this is pretty much useless. The head dosn't tilt up enough, so that when he is squatting on the base, in the only position he can hold, he looks downward... and you don't get to see his great face very well.
So, would I recommend buying it, or not? I would say a qualified "yes" if you are determined to leave it in the box. It looks best this way, but the downside is that the fun is gone when the batteries run out (unless you open it up and slide the base out to change them... but then the screw is broken for good). I would vote "no" if you are looking for an action figure to play with. It is really more like a statue with a little articulation (but not where he could really use it, at the knees, ankles, and elbows). But it sure does look great!

However, Madame Alexander makes dolls so that you can play with too. She is an excellent size for creating your own fashions whether you sew, knit, or crochet.
Her feautures are similar to her bigger sister -- Cissy. Great for displaying the charm of multiple sizes of dolls or for your child to have a mom and daughter pair.

All that my nephew (Air Force Special Forces), said was inaccurate about this figure was that the visor would always be clear so one could check to see if their fellow soldier was not getting enough oxygen. They would look into his eyes to find out this info and therefore needed either a clear visor or clear goggles on the soldier jumping from such altitude.

Round 5 MMA Quinton Jackson Review

(More customer reviews)There are two items of note coming (or already out in Round 5's case) to the "toy" business from MMA. UFC action figures made from Jakks, which are mainly for kids to play with. When I had first heard UFC was looking to contract for figurines, I was hoping they would get a deal with say, MacFarlane (sp?) toys for some great looking figures that would sit well on an entertainment center. The deal with Jakk's crushes that though.
So there are the Round 5 MMA figures. Good collector's items to put on the shelf, I keep my two (Quinton and Wand) next to my MMA DVDs. The Rampage figure has a little extra worth due to the accessory chain that comes with it.

The outfit Belle is wearing is different but just as cute as the yellow one. Belle's hair is soft and was really easy to comb (yes, I tried combing the doll's hair myself.
