PlanToys X-Track Expansion Review

The value of the X-Track is the ability to change directions and expand routes that vehicles can take. My son likes the ability to turn his trains around or make choices on each 'lap' around his train table. That's the good news.
The bad news is the connections on the X-Track are shaped ever-so-slightly different from other popular sets (Thomas, Melissa & Doug, Imagination/Toys'r'us).I'm having to force a lot of pieces into the female connections. The male connections are too large for many of the other brands. I've considered grinding them down a bit with my Dremel but managed to wedge the necessary connections into place for the time being. Once my son is old enough to start building his own track, I may need to reconsider the Dremel option so that he doesn't break a connection off. It's that tight of a fit.

Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Race Down The Rails Playset Review

Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Race Down The Rails Playset

Got this for our 3-old's birthday; he LOVES Thomas wooden railway and has several other destination pieces and lots of track. His dad recently built a large train table for him, and he has started to take apart and build his own track layouts. This circular/double layer track area of this set is way too complicated for him to put back together on his own; even Mom & Dad have to look at a picture sometimes to get it right! As much as this costs, I'm sure our son would have been happier getting a few other engines or other destinations instead. Like most wooden Thomas stuff, it's decent quality, but again, there are other pieces that are probably more fun and a lot less money. This set also takes up a lot of room on his table, and he seems to more enjoy the destinations that make sounds, have opening doors, etc.
