The episode was hilarious, with Lucy buying a vacuum cleaner, Fred buying a washing machine, and Ricky a fridge! The laughs were non-stop as one fumbling mishap after another keeps the Ricardo's and Mertz's bickering the entire time. Lucy wears this pretty polka dot house dress and the details of hairdo, backdrop of the apartment and even her facial expression are wonderfully accurate.Treat yourself to this one of a kind collectible. The first dolls in this limited edition series are long gone and hard to find -- don't let this one get away!

I Love Lucy has been charming television viewers since 1951 with 172 hilarious episodes. This nostalgic doll brings back the days of everyone's favorite redhead on television.
Lucille Ball's all-time favorite "I Love Lucy" episode - "The Operetta" - has wacky Lucy Ricardo borrowing money from her woman's club treasury. Then the group needs the money to stage an operetta! To save the $100 royalty fee, Lucy writes her own musical about Lily of the Valley (Ethel) and Prince Lancelot (Ricky) whose love is thwarted by the gypsy queen, Camille (Lucy). Lucy rents costumes and scenery using a postdated check, assuming the money to cover the expenses will be available in the club account after the show! Naturally, the production is interrupted by moving men repossessing the sets and costumes and Lucy is carried off stage, singing and slapping her tambourine. Doll measures approximately 13.47" tall.

Somehow I missed the Fred Mertz Christmas doll; maybe it was because my daughter got married in 2009, the year Fred's doll was released. I kinda went a little crazy when I realized just last month that it was out. So I went looking for it(and the doll REALLY looks like Fred Mertz). Amazon seemed to have the best price on it in a perfect box; Christmas tree decorations in the background like the other three. (My husband collects toy trains; I KNOW how important the boxes can be). I'm very happy with what I received; now I have the collection of all four characters in the Santa suit and it makes me smile every time I walk by the shelf on which they stand. Prompt delivery and pristine condition. Pricey, perhaps. But some things are worth it if you want it bad enough. My guilty pleasure!

(More customer reviews)This doll set is in the Pink Label Barbie Collection. Lucy and Ethel are wearing matching pink uniforms with hats and Lucy has pearl earrings and necklace. They have their cheeks bulging with chocolates. They have wide open eyes with hair (not painted on) eyelashes. They are holding squares of paper with a cardboard "chocolate" in their right hands. These are probably removeable since they don't show in the pictures on the website. Lucy says, "Ethel, I think we're fighting a losing game!" in a clip from the show. The doll may say more but I have not opened it to see and the box does not say.
This is a cute set for any Barbie collector or lover of I Love Lucy.

Barbie Collector I Love Lucy: Lucy Tells the Truth Doll Review

(More customer reviews)The latest doll in the I Love Lucy Barbie line is almost as cute as the others...her face looks sort of "wild-eyed", but that's because of the episode it is from. Lucy was scared of the knife throwing act. Anyway, her look is relevant and cute but not quite as cute as other dolls in the series. It's really funny though. I think they did a good job on the design of it. I picked this one out in a store rather than order online because each doll varies in hair and facial expressions, and I picked out the best one I could find.
Her outfit is cute, and her hair is nicely done. It's elaborately curled. She has earrings on that are cute. There are cardboard knife handles sticking out of the board behind her. The one thing I can't understand is why Barbie dolls since the 90s are so spare in their packaging and leave out some details. You get cardboard items/accessories instead of plastic or fabric most of the time. In the episode, Lucy is memorably holding a scarf, which you can even see pictured on the doll box. Would it have hurt the company to add a small piece of fabric to the doll's hand...it would have looked better and added a nice touch. Especially for the price they charge. Interestingly enough, some sites are charging more than this one, but we found it cheaper in the store we went to. You have to shop around, but if you can't find it, Amazon is probably the best place to order it from.
I hope in future Lucy dolls, they add more details like the (missing) scarf. I would have rated this 5 stars if they had included that important detail.
Worth buying if you collect them as we do.
