(More customer reviews)If you've seen the movie, you know what I mean--that little monkey tugged at your heartstrings and captured the imaginations of everyone I talked to about the film. No surprise someone had to make one as a toy! And yes--I had to add it to the 'zoo' around here.
This toy is high in 'cuddle value' but I'm not so sure I'd give it to a very young child--maybe a pre-teen or an adult with a monkey fetish like me. I'm concerned with the tassle 'hat' coming apart and being eaten. Otherwise, the sock monkey should be pretty durable and easy to take care of.

(More customer reviews)The whole point of a sock monkey is to make a toy out of a sock. From the ridiculous dimensions of this four foot behemoth I can only draw one reasonable conclusion: the Mayans were right! The end is near, but not from a comet or stunning apocalypse, nay, instead by the invasion of an approximately 25 foot species of ticked off creatures looking to get their footwear back! There can be no other interpretations of this product...
The write up states this gigantic sock monkey is a, "Great conversation piece". Yeah, great if you like talking about the doom of the planet (which I do...) but outside of that conversation, I have trouble imagining much of a conversation:
"Hey, Bob, that's one gigantic sock monkey you got there."
"I know, right? It's cool isn't it!"
"Yup, sure is..."
"..."
Here are some suggested uses for a four foot sock monkey:
1.Carpool buddy for HOV usage (you'll still get a ticket and probably be made fun of at the police station)
2.Burglary deterrent (set up in front of a window)
3.Romantic companion...
4.Father figure for child(ren).
5.Hidden safe for valuables.
6.New member of the Jersey Shore.
Good luck. If you need me, I'll be digging a bunker in my basement.

These are Not "original", Not made from socks.
It's bad enough that there are mass produced toys trying to pass as real "sock monkeys", but to say these are "Original" is a misrepresentation.
Original red heel socks were (and still are) cut up and the red heels became the mouth and butt of the sock monkey. These imitation monkeys have no red butt because they are made from yardage and Not socks.

Paul Frank Printed Sock Monkey Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this little pink Paul Frank sock monkey as a replacement for a blue one that I bought at the PF store in Hollywood. From about 3 months of age the blue sock monkey was my daughter's favorite toy and the only thing that reliably got her to sleep at night. Even from infancy she could get her little hands around its skinny limbs and squeeze them and soon she was able to lift the little guy up by his limbs and make him dance. These monkeys aren't stuffed firm, they're soft and squishy and the fabric is not stiff so they're huggable and they don't irritate her skin. Despite this constant abuse the first one lasted until she was a year old at which point I had to buy her a new one. I'm planning on buying yet another for when this one bites the dust. She has received oodles of plush toys as gifts but since these monkeys are the only ones she deems worthy to cuddle with at night I am obliged to give them 5 stars.

Classic Sock Monkey Stuffed Animal with Free Mesh Bag Review

But all in all it was a hit my 8 year old was so excited to get a sock monkey that he can fly accross his room. I am satisfied with the monkey I recieved, though I would say that they should be a bit more durable.

I could have purchased the official sock monkey from the movie for 60 dollars more, but I like to save. The only difference between this monkey and the one from the movie is a small monogrmed heart on his chest. My husband loves the sock monkey I purchased and would kill me if he knew I was telling anyone. A plus item, quick shipping...no problems.
