Opal Nkrumah is of Nigerian and British ancestry. Her complexion is pleasantly deeper than that illustrated in the prototype's photos, but the hair color is as light as illustrated. Slightly darker hair would have been my personal preference.
The clothing is very well made; something that I could visualize myself having worn in the 1970s.
All of the dolls in the Mixis line are of multicultural ancestry... there is a doll for everyone. Each stands 12 inches tall. Opal's full lips and hips (proportionate body) are an added plus. She can almost stand without the assistance of a doll stand.
The down side to the first generation dolls is that their arms are not articulated. This feature was added to the second generation dolls (the Sunset dolls). Hopefully, the third generation of five dolls, scheduled to be released in 2009 and 2010, will have articulated arms (and knees).
