The solar panels in the front create energy to power Thumbelina's wings and make them move back and forth "fluttering". The set comes with a planter - part compacted dirt disk and part food. You put the seeds in the top and it sprouds Alyssum flowers. Very little care is needed for the plant part.
In all, the movement of the wings is cute and the 'garden' part is well thought out for younger kids. They can enjoy watching the planter sprout its real plants.
