(More customer reviews)Son of Zeus and a mortal woman, Hercules is typically one of the strongest beings on the planet. Kind of makes you wonder why he's always been something of a second stringer in the comics but oh well. He is one of the better figures in this first assortment of Hasbro ML figures. While not as overly huge and muscled as your average Hulk figure he still comes off as a powerful character with plenty of muscles to spare. Sculpt wise his body is pretty good and the detail on his thigh length strap sandals is good. Some folks may not like the look on his face and I've heard it described as goofy but I think it makes him look kind of cocky which to me works for the character. Both hand are sculpted into a semi-closed position, presumably to hold his only accessory, his mace. Since he only has one mace though it might have been nice for one hand to either have been a sculpted fist or have articulated fingers. Paint is pretty clean and they added color to the raised veins on his arms which is kind of neat and may be first for ML figures. He does have something of a tan from a bottle look going on though. Aside from his mace he also comes with a giant wing of Annihilus.
As far as the build a figure (BAF), Annihilus, goes he is an interesting mix. We've kind of been out of the whole extra big BAF's like Galactus and the Sentinel and others for a while now but the past BAF's have been just as good and are still really big guys meant to be in scale with the 6" Legends figures (not that Galactus really was in scale. Hey Hasbro, a big Celestial would be cool). I'd give Annihilus 4 stars overall. He has a really good sculpt with lots of detail and a great assortment of articulation points. He has extra big leathery wings, a menacingly alien face, clawed articulated hands and a pink (?) torso and gloves. Did I say pink? That's the only thing about this guy. For a real threatening Negative Zone alien also known as The Living Death That Walks, pink seems like a pretty feminine color. But maybe he's secure in his masculinity. In some areas he was shipped with an alternate purple color rather than the pink to man him up a bit but it's still pretty weird. Oh, well. Just be careful, if you are a perfectionist, that you don't mix up different colored parts.
