(More customer reviews)We own more than 150 McFarlane toy figures, from the Movie Maniac Series to Spawn and Austin Powers to his sports legends and his music figures, and for the most part we're rarely disappointed, but this Elvis figure is disappointing. Not in the workmanship, which is always excellent. It's the likeness to the King that disappoints (or maybe I should say it's NOT the likeness). If you take a good look across all genres of McFarlane figures you'll see that the music figures of those that have passed on are the ones that don't quite capture the likeness of the real deal. I have a theory on this phenomenon: one can't laser-scan a dead person. To test my theory compare Todd McFarlane's Mark McGwire figure to his Janis Joplin. Or to any of the 3 Elvis figures. Or the Hendrix figures, although Jimi #2 is far better than the first. Or take a look at the Jim Morrison figure and compare it to the Kurt Russell Snake figure from Escape from New York. Todd McFarlane set his own bar exceedingly high when he offered us the exact likeness of so many. How could one not be disappointed with this generic-faced Elvis? Am I saying it's not worth the cost? No. It's worth it to us collectors of things McFarlane. I'm simply trying to soften the blow, that's all.
