The Bratz 4th Edition Twiins, Krysta and Lela, have been a VERY long time in coming (more on this below). This pair of platinum blonde beauties has been worth the wait. Krysta and Lela are both attired in cool outfits that sport plenty of details (the faux snakeskin jackets are incredible!). The Bratzpack handbags (does MGA still call them "Bratzpacks?") are back after going missing from 2nd Edition Twiins Tess and Nona. Okay, 3rd Edition Twiins Valentina and Oriana had handbags, but they seemed to be more of an afterthought and not the nice purses that Krysta and Lela have, plus V & O's handbags disappeared when they resurfaced as "Triiiplets" with their sister Sierrna, so I never really counted them as having purses. Anyway, the amount of accessories that come with Krysta and Lela is a nice throwback to when Bratz doll boxes were crammed full of little accessories and extra fashions. It might have been nice for MGA to include extra shirts with Krysta and Lela the way they did with Phoebe and Roxxi, and it is a bit disappointing that Lela's "Couture" shirt is recycled from Treasures Roxxi, but all in all, the 4th Edition Twiins are lovely.
This time around, MGA has decided not to revisit the "good twin/bad twin" theme, as shown by the absence of the angel and devil keychains that they packed with the previous three Twiins sets (and was only truly fitting for 1st Edition Twiins Phoebe and Roxxi). Though I'm a little disappointed by the missing keychains, I do like the idea that it's all up to you if either Krysta or Lela is the good/bad twin, or if they even are good/bad twins at all. They can both be good girls or bad girls a la Wicked Twiins Ciara and Diona.
The one complaint I have about the product itself is that the actual dolls do not come with the hats as pictured on the box art. The prototypes show the dolls as having hats, and I do understand that prototypes may be different from the finished product, but when all artwork depicts the dolls with hats, and the prototype photo shows the dolls with hats, it's reasonable to expect that the final product would have them. I wonder if MGA will give them the Rock Angelz treatment; release the first bunch of Twiins without hats, then the next bunch with?
If MGA does actually release a second bunch of Twiins with hats, I hope they'll be a lot easier to find than they are right now. Krysta and Lela were listed on MGA's website since fall of 2005, but for some odd reason, they haven't appeared in very many stores since, on-line or off-line. According to MGA, the 4th Edition Twiins were sold in quantity to several major retailers across the U.S., but the only one where I found mine wasn't even on the list. As of this writing, the one retailer where I've found the 4th Edition Twiins is still the only one that carries them. Extremely strange.
