(More customer reviews)I bought this little set for my 2.5 yr old daughter. We don't own the Caring Corners Dollhouse. She uses it in her Fisher Price My First Dollhouse (another good buy!) and a vintage Little Tikes Dollhouse I had saved from my childhood. The size of the doll and grocery cart fit very well into both houses.
I have to say that the doll's hair is a bit weird. Only the ponytail is made of actual hair, the rest of her head has painted on hair. My daughter didn't even seem to notice though.
Also, the food in the grocery cart is all one peice except for the long peice of French Bread which could pose as a choking hazard if you have younger kids in the house who are still putting everything in their mouths. I have a six month old so I just took the bread stick and put it into a ziploc with other small accessories that I'm saving (from barbies, My Little Ponies, and other toys) for when the kids are older.
The wheels on the grocery cart do actually roll which is nice. I know many kid's may not recognize the odd shape of the cart but since we often shop at Whole Foods and Central Market (which use similar carts) my daughter wasn't thrown off by it. You could explain it as a "Market" cart maybe.
I would recommend this item and many of the other Caring Corner accesories for use in any dollhouse. I like that this line has many accessories not seen else where (this is the first dollhouse grocery cart I've ever seen)....BUT I WOULD NOT recommend paying this price. I paid about $6 at Target!!!

(More customer reviews)The Melissa & Doug Shopping Cart was an unexpected find after going through screen after screen of overpriced plastic junk.
This cart is all steel, except for the plastic handle (which has a steel core), the folding plastic "kids" seat for a doll and the plastic wheels. This cart looks like the real ones in the stores and it's built to last! Assembly is a breeze, too.
The two front wheels rotate 360 degrees for steering and they are mounted on spring loaded "legs". If you child leans into the cart from the front or sides, it will compress causing a rubber "foot" to hit the floor and stop the cart from moving forward or backward. There are also rubber "feet" on the left and right sides.
The only "dangerous" thing I can see with this cart is where the plastic wheels are minimally covered by steel "fenders" for mounting purposes. I can foresee a pinched finger or two in our daughter's future, but you can't shield your children from everything in the world that might hurt them, nor do I feel you should. In this out-of-control P.C. country of ours, we're raising a nation of coddled kids that can't think or fend for themselves. OK, I'm off my soapbox!
One other thing, if this cart will be used indoors (and I'm sure it will be) it will be downright hazardous to your furniture. I have used the padded shipping material to create bumpers for the cart to try and protect our furniture. A little cutting with scissors and a few cable-ties and you're in business.
Buy this cart first, you won't be disappointed!

(More customer reviews)I purchased this grocery cart for my 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter and they both LOVE it. I had searched for quite sometime for a sturdy basket and this is it!! It's tall enough for my 45" tall son to use comfortably and chunky enough for my 2 year old to push it with ease. Assembling takes a little time but once it was all put together it looked great!! Both kids play with it and often times argue over it. It has a seat for "baby" and that has been a lot of fun for my little girl. My son likes the open space beneath the basket because he can put "soda cans" underneath just like we do at a real grocery store. If you are looking for a grocery cart this is a FANTASTIC one.
