(More customer reviews)Great concept, but I was disappointed to find that the shapes are plain wood with colored paper on just the front, rather than painted wood all the way around. One or two mouthings and the paper started wearing off within the first day! I generally really like M&D products, so was sorry this one wasn't more durable. I'll probably only buy these in stores in the future where I can examine the quality more easily before I buy.

(More customer reviews)When I ordered this puzzle the product description said "wood" and "hand painted", the customer reviews also raved about these features. When I got the puzzle I was very disappointed to find that the puzzle pieces are MDF board, not wood or even plywood, and the puzzle board was MDF and plywood. Additionally they were not painted at all but had paper stickers that immediately started tearing off.

(More customer reviews)I was so excited to get this puzzle for my little ones. Unfortunately, the item description is misleading. The puzzle looks nice (before the kids get to it) and the chunky pieces were a perfect size! However, this puzzle is NOT hand painted. The puzzle pieces are just faced with a sticker, that easily comes off (in pieces!). That is not the quality I was expecting, especially from Melissa and Doug. I've had the puzzle for 2 months now, and 2 or 3 of the pieces have the stickers mostly peeled off. Very disappointed.

(More customer reviews)I just received this puzzle as a gift. Having another older-style Chunky puzzle, I am VERY disappointed in the quality. Instead of the designs being painted on, the front of the pieces are paper stickers and scratch off very easily. The old Chunky puzzles were much better quality and last longer. How disappointing that Melissa and Doug should make such poor quality puzzles!

(More customer reviews)I tried to edit the number of stars I had originally given this product. I had ordered previously the "Farm" chunky puzzle... I loved it. Each piece was hand painted, completely, and has exceptional quality. SO, for Christmas I ordered her 3 more... BUT, they aren't made the same. These puzzles (Sea Life, Safari, and Pets) are NOT painted. They simply have stickers slapped on the front. The sides and underneath are completely unfinished. As a result, after my toddler playing with them for only 6 weeks, they are starting to peel apart. The first PAINTED puzzle is 2 years old, and still in GREAT shape. I am really disappointed that these 3 were made so much more cheaply.
