(More customer reviews)With two kids who love The Three Billy Goats Gruff, I knew we couldn't go wrong buying a billy goat to replace the standard bunny in my four year old's Easter basket this year, especially since we're already overrun with bunnies and lambs from previous years' Easter baskets. We also bought Squirrel McNuttie, but I must confess, the goat is my favorite. He looks sort of tough, but friendly at the same time. And he has two great little pockets for stashing things like candy. Pockets on a stuffed animal thrill me for reasons I can't explain. Like his friend, McNuttie, he defies the ideal that plush animals should be demure and innocent and doe-eyed. He has real character, and expression about him. I like him a great deal, and my daughter - who never takes animals and dolls to bed - dragged him in there tonight, so she must find him agreeable also. Before bed, he joined us for an obligatory nighttime reading of The Three Billy Goats Gruff and acted out his part clip-clopping over the bridge as any sensible billy goat should, which scored points with both our girls.
He's a nice size for a little kid at 12" length, perfectly doll-like, while I imagine his larger variation is a drag-along-the-floor kind of size at a generous 18". His body is knitted sweater-like cotton, made by Peruvian artisans who are paid fair wages. Thus the cost. His body is stuffed with polyester - and though I wish it were a more natural substance, this does make him more easily washable. He's already been through our wash once on the gentle cycle, as I always wash plush toys before giving them to the kids. He came through brilliantly, and I was pleased to see that his goatee separated a bit and fluffed in a more attractive way post-washing. It was just bits of multi-colored cotton yarn at silly angles before he went through the wash. Funny that washing a plush toy would actually improve it. Anyway, we air-dried him, which only took a few hours, and that was indoors. On a sunny day I doubt he'd take more than an hour to dry outside.
Because he's stuffed with polyester, his body is extremely soft, mooshy and lightweight. He is definitely very huggable, and will be a no-fuss pal to drag around, in case he gets an invite to one of our daughter's play dates.
Overall, he is exactly what I expected and hoped for, and I am quite pleased with him. I'll definitely be buying more BlaBla dolls in the future.
