This is a very solid collector's piece. Tin is sturdy, and the packaged Cantina band fits snugly. Excellent addition to any showcase.

The Cantina Band is back, with all its original members! While most people don't know their names, Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes are some of the most recognizable extraterrestrials from the original Star Wars film. These musical aliens set the tone for one of the most unforgettable scenes in movie history-- and now they can be yours! Previously a retailer exclusive, this highly desirable commemorative set of artistic action figures comes in a fantastic window box package. It features five 3 3/4-inch characters with their instruments, as well as removable cloth vests and a bonus collector's tin that spotlights the artwork of Ralph McQuarrie. Each figure is fully poseable with articulated wrists and elbows that allow these performers to really rock out! During the Clone Wars, the Bith Jazz sensation was at its peak and Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes rode that wave all the way to its zenith. Popular even with the Clone Troopers of the Republic, the Nodes toured constantly. After the war's end, it fell to band leader Figrin D'an to hold the group together, booking gigs at any dirty little backwater cantina that would pay their fee.

Part of the famous Cantina Band (as seen in Star Wars: A New Hope) this figure was part of the early wave of Kenner's 12" Collector Series line. Kenner released six of these guys. They're all the same basic figure (though I'm sure their mothers could tell them apart), but each has a different instrument. The idea was that serious fans would be compelled to buy all six.
Pros - The head sculpt on this figure is pretty realistic, the outfit looks good, and it's very articulated. The detail on the various instruments is also impressive.
Cons - The hard plastic head looks a bit off. I think a softer material - like what they used on the Star Wars 12" Collector Series Figure - Greedo figure - would have worked better. Still, that's a minor complaint.
These Cantina Band members are not essential figures by any means, but if you're collecting the 12" Star Wars figures you're probably going to want at least one.
Edition Notes: The early versions of the Cantina Band figures came in the original style packaging (with a photo on the front flap) and were exclusive to a particular retailer (I don't recall which one). Later, Figrin D'An (but not the others) was released in the open-front green box, and was available everywhere.
