(More customer reviews)Sure, there are lots of fun party games on the market. But True Colors is more than just fun. It's a good way to get to know your friends better. When I played with my friends, it started a few discussions and got us all to open up to each other about things we might never have discussed if not for this game.
If that scares you, this may not be the game for you. But if you're worried about the questions being overly personal and embarrassing, fear not. Most of them are fairly harmless and innocent, and the players can pick which questions they want to use, so if anything makes the group uncomfortable, you can just toss it out.
Of course, for the game to work, you HAVE TO know the people you're playing with. You can't play with strangers, since you won't be able to answer the questions honestly.
One drawback is that the game doens't have a lot of replay value if you only have a small group of friends, since once you've done all the questions (and there aren't all that many included), you've done them. Of course, you can always make up your own questions. And every time you play with a different set of people, it's a whole new game!
If you want a game that's fun in the moment, play Beyond Balderdash or Pictionary, but if you're looking for something that will resonate long after it's over, try True Colors.
