I love playing this game! It's so much fun! I love raiding my friends and trying to steal the Pearl off of whoever has her. It's an incredible game, much better than normal Life, and perfect for a Pirates fan like myself!!

This version of the 40-year-old classic will shiver your timbers as you join Captain Jack Sparrow in a rolling adventure on the high seas. Steer your ship towards Island Cruces, visit ports, raid ships, fight off cannibals (argh!) and collect loot. Don't fall prey to Davy Jones and the Kraken. Whoever plunders the most treasure wins. Monopoly Disney Edition Tin Parker Brothers Review

Monopoly Disney Edition Tin Parker Brothers
Average Reviews:

This is a very special edition of Monopoly, based on the animated films of Walt Disney Studios. It sold for $75 to $100 new back in 2001 as a limited edition. It comes in a nice tin metal box with a tight fitting lid. The board is themed and referenced to 20 animated films. The moving pieces are all Disney characters, and they each are much large and heavier than normal Monopoly movers, big and heavy in a classy way. They each look like the statues you would see at Disneyland. The characters are: Pinocchio, Lady and the Tramp, Mowgli from the Jungle Book, Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Peter Pan, Dumbo and Sleeping Beauty.
The money is themed on Disney characters, such as Uncle Scrooge on the $500 bill. Instead of houses and motels, you have White Rabbit Cottages and Sleeping Beauty Castles. There are 28 Deed cards, 16 Magic Moment cards, and 16 Show Time cards. There are 2 insert trays to use during play and storage to keep all the pieces organized. All in all, very cool. Our family has a few monopoly games, we received this as a gift and this is the nicest I have seen. I love the prominent picture of Uncle Scrooge, Buzz Lightyear, Disney Princesses, and others on the board.
It is understandable why this game is prized by collectors today.

American Girl 300 Wishes Board Game Review

American Girl 300 Wishes Board Game

My niece got this game for her 7th birthday. It is all we have played since. It is a really cute game. Each player gets their own diary with a key. Then the wishes are distributed face down to each player. Each player then distributes the wishes to the player they think would most like that wish. A lot of the wishes are really cute; she gets a kick out of her dad and her grandad read the wishes out loud. This game is cute, sweet, and apparently tons of fun to a seven-year-old little girl.

Carcassonne Review

Carcassonne
Average Reviews:

Most people come to this game after they have already been introduced to the European Designer Games by Settlers of Catan. This is a different kind of game than Settlers but in some senses it shares a lot of commonalities.
The game is easy to learn for a wide audience, it is reasonably quick to play (30 - 40 minutes) and is a very "immersive" game i.e. there aren't long periods of boredom. There are elements of strategy and luck, which makes for a "fun" game experience.
This game is fun for children and adults. For children the "farmers" are a little too complex, but the game works very well without that element.
The game consists of laying tiles to build cities, roads and monasteries in the South of France. Points are gained by creating long roads, building large cities or farming multiple farms. It draws elements of building jigsaw puzzles together with a strategy game of competing for territory.
I have played this game with family members who aren't really into board games and they enjoyed it just as much as gamers.
There are many expansions to this game which add a few more dimensions as you get more advanced. There is a very high replay-ability.
I would high recommend this game to people who are bored with standard Monopoly or Cranium type board games that are popular in the US.
If you loved Settler's of Catan this a "must"!

I have played with other Racko games where the cards are easier to use. The cards in this deck have numbers on only one side. So, you have to flip the cards a lot to place them. Otherwise, it's fine.

USAopoly Disney Cranium Review

USAopoly Disney Cranium
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had to get this game just to find out what it was about. My expectations were not that high and the game played out as I thought it would. Many of the players were able to easily guess popular tunes, characters etc. Some of the cards make you go around the room/house to look for items that represent something on the card. This was interesting, except it is completely subjective and you are being evaluated by the opposing team(s). Speaking of, there are only two teams represented by a blue Mickey cap and a yellow Mickey cap. Two rules that marred the experience was that a) your roll counts as double if you are on a Mickey logo and b) the first person to reach the end "wins" rather than having to play out all four categories. Ignore these rules, or maybe have the Mickey logo be a penalty where you move backwards or something. Otherwise the game will be extremely short. Overall I did learn some cool facts about Disney and the game is pretty fun but definitely more of an expensive Cranium "novelty".
PROS:
Disney Oriented with a pretty gameboard
Mickey Hat as game pieces with a blue and yellow "hour" glass
Blue playdough to sculpt with!
CONS:
Short gameplay if you follow the rules like getting double rolls on Mickey spots
Small game board as far as spots to move on.
Weird integration of colored dice. (You would have to balance them on your nose and say stuff like Bibbity Bobbity Boo which wasn't challenging at all)
LAST THOUGHTS:
This game seems like a Cranium Jr. (like Monopoly Jr.) but is fun for the most part but will most likely leaving those interested in a "Disney Cranium" satisfied but hoping it would have delivered more.

Travel Guess Who Game Review

Travel Guess Who Game
Average Reviews:

We purchased this for use on our family vacation with our 3 children. They love the full-sized game that we have at home. The travel game is easily small enough to fit in a carry-on bag. It seems sturdy so far, although we have bent a few of the cards. The names on the cards are a bit small, and you have to occasionally look closely at the cards to make out some of the finer details (mustache, eyeglasses, etc.). Overall, a great learning game and perfect for travel. I almost think that this travel version is more sturdy than the original version because the cards don't fall out of the holders as easily as in our full-sized version. We were also able to play this game on a turbulent airplane without anything falling over, spilling on the floor, or getting lost. Highly recommend, especially if your kids like this game.

Game is exceptional. Only problem probably will be that the small domino pieces will get lost. Hope someone offers replacement dominoes for the game. I have played the game by myself and even being careful I found domino pieces that I missed putting up. So I count the pieces now but that is time consuming and really should be unnecessary. Still glad I got the game.

Scrabble Upwords Review

Scrabble Upwords

I am an elementary school teacher and a child's vocabulary level has a high correlation to their reading comprehension. In a time of dropping vocabulary levels, this is a quick and easy game that has students checking the dictionary and expanding their vocabulary in a fun way. (I allow them to use the dictionary to check words or "find" words as they play.) I also "allow" them to expand to Scrabble and Upwords when they want more challenge. Students who never opted to play vocabulary games are now playing both of these.
I bought one game initially and just bought more so the whole class can play at one time. This is one way to expand their knowledge that they think is a reward.

Ninja Versus Ninja Game Review

Ninja Versus Ninja Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are several other two player games that are "better" than Ninja vs. Ninja. However, there are very few such games that can be played as quickly or have such nice components.
Ninja vs. Ninja is a game where players try to score points by infiltrating the other side's dojo. The deeper they can get into the dojo the more points they score and the first to seven points wins. However, sneaking around is not the only way to win the game, if one player successfully captures all of the other side's ninjas then that also means victory.
The game features to mechanics that make it fun. The first is a mix of luck and strategy. On a player's turn they roll two dice and they move a ninja that many spaces. The ninja can only move in straight lines or "L" shapes. How a player moves and positions a ninja is important, but even the best laid strategy is tied to the luck of the dice rolls, which means players have to adjust and reevaluate their strategy every turn to make the most of their luck. This means the game will not appeal much to Chess fans, but to people who don't mind a bit of luck in games this game hits a nice mix of luck and strategy. The second mechanic, is the the ability for a player to push their luck. Once a ninja crosses a middle region of the board, then it has three turns to make it back to their dojo. The deeper a ninja goes into enemy territory the harder it will be to make it back, but the higher the points. This high risk/ high reward factor, while simple is very enjoyable and adds a lot to the game.
Technically, Ninja vs Ninja could be played with checkers and a couple of pyramid shaped four sided dice. However, the components of the cute ninjas and the dice with swords through them really adds a lot to the game. Ninja vs. Ninja is a light, fun game and the components really reinforce that.
A game of Ninja vs. Ninja will take between five and ten minutes to play and only a couple of minutes to teach. The ease of the rules, quick play time, and cute factor make this game very accessible to a wide range of people.

Dominion Alchemy Review

Dominion Alchemy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Dominion: Alchemy is an expansion to the Dominion card game series. You will need Dominion or Dominion Intrigue in order to play Alchemy.
Dominion: Alchemy is the smallest expansion to date, bringing 12 new kingdom cards and a new treasure card to the table. Alchemy brings a new theme and some very interesting cards to the table, but it can feel awkward to integrate Alchemy cards into a "normal" game without a keen understanding of the cards and a sound strategy. Specifically, the "Potions" resource is implemented, the crux of this expansion. The Potion is a treasure card, costing 4, necessary to purchase most Alchemy cards. Whenever a Potion appears in hand, it nearly forces players to purchase an Alchemy card, and, without extra buys, players often waste treasure purchasing them, as they cost very little but require a potion in addition to the treasure cost. Since Potions have no other benefits, they can easily become worthless cards cycling through the deck.
On a positive note, the majority of the artwork for the Alchemy cards is beautiful. Having been disappointed with many of the illustrations in Seaside, particularly, Alchemy brings some redemption to the aesthetic appeal of Dominion. For those who may be concerned with the content of this specific Dominion theme, it should be known that a few of the cards, whether the art or indicated by the card name, are dark in nature. The cards in question can be, in my opinion, easily avoided (in gameplay with children, for example) or discarded, if you so desire.
In my experience, playing with Alchemy cards makes for a longer game, especially if you are playing with those new to Alchemy. Alchemy lends itself to advanced players and should be avoided in play with newcomers to Dominion. Beware; an Alchemy game may conclude and you might feel as though you only pursued bunny trails the entire time. Is it any surprise though, since the art of alchemy lead to a lot of nothing? Though intriguing, Alchemy is probably the most superfluous of the Dominion series. My opinion is that many will buy this expansion more out of excitement or for a sense of completion for their collection.

Looking for a way to turn lead into gold, the clever chemists in your basement laboratories keep sending up requests for strange ingredients like barrels of quicksilver and even locks of your hair. They are also working on a universal solvent. If they manage to create the substance and a container to hold it, you will be able to build a castle that can't be dissolved!
Please note: Dominion: Alchemy expands both Dominion, and Dominion: Intrigue and as such, it does not contain material for a complete game. Treasure, Victory, Curse, and Trash cards are not included, so you will need Dominion or Dominion: Intrigue to play. Dominion: Alchemy is also designed to be played with any future expansions that may be published.

OK, I have to first admit that I *love* these kinds of party games. The whole idea of dressing up, hanging out with friends and trying to solve a mystery together while you eat delicious food is just about the most enjoyable way I can imagine to spend with 7 of my best friends. This game makes it so easy! You follow the instructions, hand out the notes to the players, and it's all set! A definite must-have for any fun-loving wine drinker! Perhaps the only drawback might be that some people just don't enjoy these sorts of play-acting games. So choose friends that really have fun with this.
