Gund: My First Birthday Playset Review

Gund typically has a great reputation. This product, however, took me by surprise. It was much smaller than I thought, which means that the pieces inside were even smaller. I'm concerned my son could choke on the hat which he can completely fit in his mouth. And the little present is only about 1-2 inches tall, easily fitting in a child's mouth if squished in little hands. Seems this could be a safety issue. I thought it cost too much for what it's worth. I bought this through pearlkids on amazon. It took much longer to get here than it should have (everything elase arrived in two days...this took over a week). Cute idea, but disappointing.

From Gund, the My First Birthday 5-piece Playset comes in the shape of a birthday cake and has presents hidden inside. Little ones can open it up to find a soft bear that plays "Happy Birthday," a plush "camera" with a mirror that squeaks, a soft party hat and a present that crinkle and a cupcake that rattles. You can also display your child's first birthday picture on the front of the cake -- there's a frame that holds a 2" x 2" photo. Cake measures approximately 7" tall.

Manhattan Toy Stella Doll Review

I know I'm supposed to tell how much my children love this toy. The fact is I love Baby Stella. It's the first doll I've bought for my baby 9-month old twins, and they're still a little skeptical. Stella is about a foot tall (Product Description says 15 inches but mine is 12). My babies haven't seen anything like this before, and she looks like them in a way.
They hold Stella as if they love her and then they throw her. They also like to pull Stella's pacifier off. That's fun for them. This pacifier is way too big for my babies' mouths so it's not dangerous at this stage. You can loop your finger or thumb through the handle of the pacifier. The pacifier has a magnet and locks on pretty tightly to Stella's mouth. My babies are not at the stage where they try to put the pacifier back on.
Stella's belly and feet feel as if she has little round crunchy things inside like barley or buckwheat. All the rest of her (head, arms and legs) are made of thick foam inside. She has seven tiny strips coming out of the top of her head - her hair. They like to put any part of her in their mouths and we wonder if they're kissing Stella. They haven't discovered that they can take her clothes, including her diaper off. Those are held by velcro in some places, but in a way that seems seamless. I think it will be awhile before they find that out.
My guess is they'll love this doll as much as I do. And I've never loved a doll either. It's just such a joy to buy your girl's first doll. Others have said I should get two. I hadn't thought of that earlier for some reason. If you see me with another review and that Amazon Verified Purchase logo, you'll know what happened.
