(More customer reviews)Whether you are a fan of Bob Mackie's designs or a lover of French historical costuming - this collector's Barbie, Madame Du is exquisite!
Bob Mackie can be out there at times with design concepts... but this particular French-revolutionary, fictional noblewoman is a work of art.
Although this doll is a 1997 model - she DOES NOT have the 90's Barbie skin pallor or facial features that were typical/cheesy. My husband was lucky enough to find her at a great price and her costuming is even more intricate than the pictures depict. Mackie created the detailed dress and underskirt with hundreds of sequins and gorgeous scrollwork, which make the dress luxurious and sparkling. The expression of coquettish-ness on the face is priceless, as is her lovely coif and appropriate French beauty mark.
If you can find Madame Du Barbie at a decent price - be sure to snag her!
Pssst....(Ebay)
NOTE: Other great Mackie Barbies I recommend that are breathtaking and atypical: "Tango" "Masquerade Gala Illusions" and "Arctic Fantasy"

1997 Barbie Collectibles - Bob Mackie Madame du BarbieMadame du Barbie doll captures the majesty and opulent elegance of the eighteenth century royal court of France. Her gown is a breathtaking confection of ice blue brocade with bead and jewel-embellished rococo embroidery. The coiffure and headpiece are appropriate for the most elegant of royal occasions.
