Venom Highly Detailed Vinyl Model Kit Review

Venom Highly Detailed Vinyl Model Kit

This Vinyl model was well designed and sculpted. Although it says this model kit is ment for ages 13 and under, it is not. It's more like 13 and up. An exacto knife or hobby knife will be need due to trimming that will need done due to overlay leftover from the molding process. Glue will also be needed like every other model. Acrylic paints are you best bet on a model like this not your average model paint. Hairdryer can also be helpful since this is vinyl sometimes in packing the pieces get bent out of shape but because of vinyls properties it can be heated by an average hair dryer and bent back into shape. Also, gluing this kit together before painting is a must due to seams on the legs and arms. (You will see what I mean.) You will be proud to have this model as part of your collection, or just as a great addition to your hom if your a comic fan. I hope you find this info helpful. Enjoy.

Universal Monsters Retro Series 1 Cloth Figure Frankenstein Review

Universal Monsters Retro Series 1 Cloth Figure Frankenstein

I can't say enough how wonderful these new Universal Monster Retro Series dolls are. The detail and care that went into their creation is magnificent. Frankenstein's body is fully posable - with flexible joints at wrists, elbows, shoulders, ankles, knees, hips. The head turns both directions and and torso swivels as well. This doll has no problem balancing in a standing position, sitting down without falling backward, or striking any number of other fun poses. The photos really do not do these figures justice as the attention to detail in their creation is amazing. Frankenstein's polyester clothes are just as fun as the figure itself. He has a green jacket that attaches with a small snap (a la the old Remco monster dolls of the early 80s) and a black short sleeved shirt underneath it. His brown pants are high-waisted in the style of the 1930s (which I thought was a nice touch) and they also have a small snap on the back of the waist to allow their removal. And maybe the most fun element of this great Frankenstein doll is the fact his black, plastic platform boots are also removable! You can easily take them both off to reveal the monster's strangely delicate feet. This is indeed a wonderful little creature! The exposed plastic parts of the figure (head and hands) contain lots of nice details without feeling overly articulated. I know other fans may disagree, but I prefer these "Retro" dolls over the highly articulated "Select" series of Universal Monsters that Diamond Select is also releasing. The Select figures are too "wrinkly" looking for me and they are intended for display only since they are not posable (which makes them a little less fun, I think). I feel like these Retro dolls are a great balance between cute and creepy. As a child of the 70s, they harken back to the old Mego superhero dolls I had and the Remco glow-in-the-dark series of classic monsters I got for Christmas around 1980. I still wish I held on to my old Remco monsters, but these new Retro Universal Monsters are actually even better than the Remcos. I can't wait for the release of Dracula and the Mummy. Sounds like we'll have to wait until October 2011, but I'm sure they will be worth it. I wish they would continue with this series so we can see other fiends like the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Invisible Man, the Bride of Frankenstein, and the Phantom of the Opera. If you are looking for big monster fun, I highly recommend this Frankenstein doll. No electrical current needed!

Monster High Friends Plush Frankie Stein Doll Review

My daughter requested one of these dolls...I think she was interested in the werewolf, but I got this one instead due to the fact that the werewolf was not in stock. The werewolf (Clawdeen) has a delicate fur collar, and I was concerned anyway that the fur might end up lookin' ratty or possibly fall out. Frankie is just as cute...she has more of a British punk/Angus Young look goin' on (Clawdeen reminds me of more of 80's punk). Her pet, Watzit, has silver wings and "dino spikes"- in the pic they appear white. I gave this a high educational rating because I believe that enlightening my daughter with monster myth info is a great intro to- what else- "Dracula", "Frankenstein", "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", "The Turn of the Screw", Poe, Lovecraft, you get the picture- great lit that has impacted our society. Durable rating is three stars because a frustrated toddler could destroy her in fifteen minutes (they are suggested for ages six and up). Great collectible/decor/mojo for not-too-dark, not-too-cheerleadish chicks.

So excited that there are monster fashion dolls! My daughters are 5 and 2 and a half and they love, love , love their dols! They play with them more than their Barbies! I've read reviews where people complain about them falling apart, but my girls have had them for months and play with them regularly and we haven't had a problem!
