I actually was able to pick up this doll at a bargain price of $15 (NRFB) at a doll show. Surprisingly, even at this price, this doll is remarkably well made and very nicely detailed--for the doll collector or mature girl. (I bought this doll for my nine year-old daughter, who collects Barbie is large gowns, and she adores her.)
First, I think she's a wonderful combination of auburn hair and brown eyes. Her facial screening is soft, despite her modern-looking couture-style gown.
The gown is a layered number, and it closes with snaps in the back. The under layer of the gown is a copper/orange colored lamé, which shines through the shimmering ombré dyed layer of the red, burgundy and purple iridescent chiffon skirt. It's well-fit and falls perfectly, even right out of the box. The bodice of the dress is a little dated--she is a 1996 doll, of course--so it's pretty loud, but still well done. The sleeves of the gown are flowing and long, and trimmed with reasonably scaled fall fruits and trim. She has a tassel belt in contrasting purple and gold, and an over-sized hat with feather trim.
She is a festively fall-flavored doll, and I find her lovely and mesmerizing, especially for the price. I should note, she is probably not a good play-doll, even with her removable gown, as the small pieces attached (the fruits and trim) would probably not be suitable for play.
