Barbie Dolls of the World: Princess of the Nile Review

Barbie Dolls of the World: Princess of the Nile

This Barbie is splendid. She looks intelligent, cool, beautiful, graceful, and self-assured... her costuming is awesome, her braids are exquisite, and OMG her MAKEUP is fantastic and historically accurate. Moreover, the back of the box details her cosmetic routine, even explaining what the ancient Egyptians made their make up out of... a great way to introduce a kid to the ancient and magical ritual of cosmetics, as something beyond just being something that Mom and big sister might (or might not) do. I only have one little girl relative, and I got this for her- and made sure I got one for myself, too. If you get one of these for a young girl who is liable to wreck it, I recommend getting a spare one to give her when she is older, so she can appreciate the beauty of it. But I think one of these would be a good influence on a little girl- she has such cool makeup compared to most off-the-shelf Barbies, and her hair is beautiful.

Barbie Dolls of the World: Princess of Ireland - Collector Edition Doll (2001) Review

Barbie Dolls of the World: Princess of Ireland - Collector Edition Doll (2001)

Coming from an Irish family, I have accumulated many different types of Irish collectibles over the years: stuffed animals, Beanie Babies, glasses, books, jewelery...all with some sort of Irish theme. But until recently I didn't have any Irish dolls, porcelain or otherwise. I have been collecting Dolls of the World Barbies for a number of years, and more recently Princess of the World dolls, so I couldn't believe it when I found out that a Princess of Ireland Barbie would be made. I was nervous that the doll wouldn't "feel" Irish enough. So when I received her in the mail I was pleasantly surprised that she was even more beautiful than in the photos online. Her complexion is very fair, and her auburn hair is stunning in natural light. Her green eyes are sparkling and mysterious, and she wears a very light rose eyeshadow that makes her beautiful eyes stand out even more. Her costume is sort of a medieval/Celtic blend. She wears a velvety soft forest green cloak with a golden Tara brooch clasp, a traditional Celtic design. Her dress is a crinkly olive green fabric with a stripe of Celtic designs down the middle. At her waist she wears a belt of three golden medallions with Celtic designs, and on her head, perfectly balanced atop her auburn hair, a golden crown fit for an Irish princess. The box she comes in is also perfect for displaying her in. Appropriately enough, it is green (Ireland is actually a Viking word for green) with golden trim. The backdrop inside of the box is an Irish castle. There is information about the Celts on the back of the box. This is sure to become a treasured keepsake in my family, and I'm planning on buying more for relatives and friends.

Princess of Ireland is a special Barbie that has been crafted with style and loving attention to detail. She has green eyes, auburn hair, and fair skin. She wears a gorgeous cloak and dress ensemble in shades of deep green. The textured fabric has intricate Celtic designs add allure. Though this Barbie has obviously been designed with collectors in mind, there's no reason she can't be added to any Barbie fan's repertoire. The doll comes with a stand and a certificate of authenticity.

The Denver person is wrong, the majority of chinese people are not dark skinned if they are it is because their skin have been tan. I should know because I'm chinese. I just got this doll yesterday and I think her face does look like most chinese people you will see in HK or Shanghai. Her hair and shoes are a little strange. I've never seen traditional hair styles like this before. Her shoes are not the kind of shoes worn with a traditional Mandarin dress. Overal I think she is worth the $20 bucks.

On the first day of the First Moon of the lunar calendar, the most important celebration in China begins. Homes are decorated with paper banners adorned with happy wishes, pretty flowers and platters of oranges and tangerine. At midnight on Chinese New Year's Eve, fireworks fire and the festival begins.
One of the most wondrous spectacles of the festival is the dragon dance. Many people carry long silk dragons, dancing in procession as musicians play gongs and drums. A happy celebrant is dressed in a silky red gown decorated with yellow flowers and a phoenix, a symbol of happiness and joy. Flowers and butterflies, symbols of long life and beauty, are in her upswept hair. She is very happy to receive the gift of a red Lai-See Envelope. Doll measures 12" tall.

What an exotic Barbie! The most amazing thing about her outfit is her huge eggplant purple skirt. If you're going to display this doll, make sure you leave enough space for her skirt. It's magnificent! I love her earrings and the bangle around her arm, amazing accessories. Other details I love are her painted purple fingernails and the mole above her lip. Beautiful!

Cinco De Mayo (the 5th of May) commemorates a victory in 1862 of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle of Puebla. In modern times, Cinco De Mayo is a holiday that celebrates all of Mexican culture with lots of food, music and dance.
Cinco De Mayo Barbie doll wears a beautiful folkloric dress with ruffles and ribbons inspired by the colors of the Mexican flag. A traditional hairstyle with braids and festive embellishments add the final touch. Doll cannot stand alone. Measures 12" tall.

Barbie Collector Dolls Of The World Carnaval Barbie Doll Review

Barbie Collector Dolls Of The World Carnaval Barbie Doll
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a collector of action figures, this doll gets my highest rating. As the title of this particular series states "Dolls of the World", the Carnival Barbie Doll does more than just entertain little girls, it teaches us all about racial and ethnic diversity (the greatest strength in American society today) as well as some aspects of South American culture. Anyone (adults and children alike) who cannot appreciate the fact that this collector's doll is "different" from any other Barbie doll in several, very good ways is probably racially or ethnically challenged.
Aesthetically, this doll is a beautiful collector's piece that would make an excellent addition to any Barbie collection. One more thing worth mentioning is that the eye lashes are rooted in, just like the hair. They are not painted on. This is a clear testament of the doll's collector quality. The costume is identical to those worn during Brazillian carnivals which is part of the doll's motif and meaning. I fail to see how this costume differs from that of a Barbie doll wearing a bikini. No one seems to be offended by that.
I highly recommend this doll to any collector who appreciates a fine work of art that embodies ethnic diversity. Any kids or adults who feel that the Carnival Barbie is too "risqué" should refrain from purchasing it.

Every year, for several wonderful days, the city of Rio de Janeiro transforms into the most extravagant city in Brazil. In a frenzy of music, dance sequins and feathers, the Cariocas (local inhabitants) and countless others celebrate carnaval. From the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana to the Old City and beyond, revelers don sparkly and exotic costumes and take to the streets. The flamboyant balls, boisterous parades and fantastic street carnavals that continue on throughout the festival are legendary.
One brown-eyed beauty enters the throng, ready to party! With pure joy, she joins the dancers and moves to the rhythms of the samba - a delirious mixture of African and Portuguese music. Instruments blare as people sing along the the incessant drum beats. This is the carnaval she will never forget. Barbie Carnaval is dressed in a detailed purple and pink outfit. Doll measures 12" tall.

Barbie Had a Little Lamb Review

This is a very pretty and intricate doll. We purchased it 3 years ago when my daughter was only a few months old. We wanted to start a collection for her(that she'll not know about until she's old enough to not want them out of the packages. I don't know when that will be, as I'd like to take them out!) We wanted to get in on the ground floor of a series. THis was 1st in a series. A series that they do not plan on continuing aparently. I E-mailed them(MATTEL) a year ago and they replied that no 2nd was even in the works at that time. I was very dissapointed as being the first in a series was our reason for purchasing. Two series started that year, Birthday and Nursery Rhyme. WE got both. At least the birthday series continued.(These two were the only ones we found with the boxes saying first in a series) Just wanted to let collectors in on this info.

Come with Barbie in this famous nursery rhyme as she and her little white lamb go off to school. Look, you can see the school and other children in the distance. Barbie looks so pretty in her enchanting outfit and spectator shoes. Her adorable blue satin jacket is trimmed in lace and has pearly buttons that match her jewelry. Her overskirt has a petty pink ribbon bow that matches the bow on her jacket. And even her little lamb has a pink bow! No wonder Barbie doll's lamb loves her so!

I am a collector, so I love Madame Alexander Dolls. This doll is a bit of a disappointment. Her costume in not authentic. The plaid socks are not worn with this particular costume. Also, the has Irish curls in the back instead of the Scottish dance bun. The red hair is great. It is almost the same color as my sister's hair.
Madame Alexander dolls of this series are not meant to be played with. They are really for older girls or collectors.Madame Alexander 8 Inch International Collection Doll - Scottish Lass

She is very differant looking for a African, like her long hair and green eyes. But again what is wrong with looking differant. If all barbie dolls looked the same it would not be fun collecting them. She is beautiful with her big earings and necklace. Her dress is the best part with the African prints. I have been looking for a long time to find an African doll for my collection. But now I have I got her and she is so beautiful and looks so good with my 15 dolls of the world barbies.

This is truly a collector's doll. Her clothes are perfectly crimped and arranged, her headdress and cloak are beautiful, and she just looks amazing. One of the favorites in my collection. And the box art is fantastic too! There is a lot of information about the Greek culture on the inside flap, along with pictures of artifacts and places. Informative, beautiful, and very well made. You should definitely own this doll if you are a serious collector!
