(More customer reviews)The Denver person is wrong, the majority of chinese people are not dark skinned if they are it is because their skin have been tan. I should know because I'm chinese. I just got this doll yesterday and I think her face does look like most chinese people you will see in HK or Shanghai. Her hair and shoes are a little strange. I've never seen traditional hair styles like this before. Her shoes are not the kind of shoes worn with a traditional Mandarin dress. Overal I think she is worth the $20 bucks.

On the first day of the First Moon of the lunar calendar, the most important celebration in China begins. Homes are decorated with paper banners adorned with happy wishes, pretty flowers and platters of oranges and tangerine. At midnight on Chinese New Year's Eve, fireworks fire and the festival begins.
One of the most wondrous spectacles of the festival is the dragon dance. Many people carry long silk dragons, dancing in procession as musicians play gongs and drums. A happy celebrant is dressed in a silky red gown decorated with yellow flowers and a phoenix, a symbol of happiness and joy. Flowers and butterflies, symbols of long life and beauty, are in her upswept hair. She is very happy to receive the gift of a red Lai-See Envelope. Doll measures 12" tall.

Happy Family BABY FRIENDS 1st Birthday 3 Doll Set Review

(More customer reviews)I just got this for my almost 4 year old daughter yesterday. I love the look of the little kids.....nice to be realistic and have ethnic friends instead of all blondes. It's pretty much like her preschool class. The boy is the cutest child they have ever made!
The problem we have with the toy is that the tiny kids cannot sit properly in these chairs....they fall over and their legs don't go under the table. Their shoes fall off if you take off the bulky plastic that holds them on. In real life, if this were a party for a one year old, they wouldn't be expected to sit in armless real chairs at a table either. My daughter gets frustrated trying to get them to sit correctly and ends up crying about it, saying the toy is broken. Maybe make the table one with 4 attached booster seats? Add some sippy cups and bibs?
I also wish they would make the one-year-old Nikki doll available without having to by another Midge Mom.....maybe in a playset? We would love to have the updated family but my daughter doesn't need another Barbie doll too!
Also, adding Hispanic or Asian parents to this line would be great! (or at least some Dads since we can use our Barbie friends as mothers).

(More customer reviews)Daughter practically ripped the box out of my hands before I had a chance to even open it, thats how excited she was. She absolutley loves this Kai-Lan doll. She also loves the matching necklace that came with and has been wearing it since her doll arrived, it fits her perfectly. I was confused when I ordered this as to what doll I was getting, as two are pictured; one winking and one not. The doll we got was not winking, which I preferred, but not sure why this one is pictured at all. Highly recommend for any Kai-Lan fan!

The only thing keeping me from deeming this a perfect doll is that her facial features are definitely not Chinese, which I found odd since she is supposed to be Chinese. Mattel has released many Barbies which actually look Asian; this is not one of them.

(More customer reviews)I checked out this doll in the big box TOYS store and the standard doll with the blue eyes is very nice but a brown eyed version is wonderful. The doll does smell lightly deliciously of baby powder and is very soft and lightweight. The other reviewers are right about the interactive versions having hard bodies that are not as embraceable.

I listed it as five stars on durability but really dont know how durable it will be but it does seem solid . It came in a nice box with a certificate of authenticity , bought ours through amazon . For a little girl who wants to be "like mommy " this would be a great doll. Also the clothes are removable which is not listed in the product description .
