(More customer reviews)I chose this dollhouse for my two-year-old daughter because the open floor plan seemed like it would allow her clumsy little hands easy access for playing. The floor plan is very similar, you may have noticed, to a dollhouse made by a more famous eco toy company -- but at a third the price. However, I think I might have gotten what I paid for! The quality here is just not that high. Before we could assemble this dollhouse, we had to make a trip to the hardware store to replace a defective screw and get some wood glue to re-fasten the loose banisters. The stairs, also, refuse to stay in place, and need to be glued. However, my daughter does enjoy the layout of the dollhouse, and it's sizable enough that two children can easily play at once.

(More customer reviews)This toy is very durable, brightly colored, enticing and entertaining. My daughter loves playing with it and it is a toy I enjoy (there are many that drive me nuts!) I would only point out the size. It is great for a small apartment, but because it is so small, she can pick it up and tote it about and she has dropped it on her feet and been quite unhappy. Earlier, we had to put it away because she tried to lean on it for standing and would tumble with it. So in essence, I would not recommend it for a child younger than a year. But in general, we have been very happy with this purchase!

Discovery Box is packed full of engaging activities to stimulate cognitive, visual, and tactical senses. (More customer reviews)We actually purchased this cookware in a set including Educo Gourmet Chef Cuisine and Educo Gourmet Chef Kitchen.
The kitchen has slots for storing a few utensils and the plates, as well as a towel rack for the towel.
The frying pan (4.25" diameter) and stock pot (4.5" diameter) have an interchangeable lid. They are made of plywood.
The salt and pepper shakers (2.5" x 1.5") each have beads inside them that make a pleasant shaking sound when they are used.
The plates, also plywood, are 4.5" diameter.
The forks and knives measure 5", while the spatula and serving spoon measure 7".
The towel is vivid orange terry and reminds me of a baby washcloth.
All of the items are made of smooth, unfinished wood that is pleasing to the touch. The sizing seems appropriate for preschool play - not too big or small. The colors are stains, rather than paint, which I like. Nothing to chip off, and thus less chance for unknown substances in little tummies.
According to the Hape site, all the stains are imported to the China factory from Germany, the woods from Russia, and so one might hope that this would mean better safety standards, despite being manufactured in China.
All told this is a fine cooking set, seems to be relatively safe, and does not contain any pieces that would be choking hazards.

She's having fun playing with it and adding it to our group of fun play items. I keep parts from getting lost by storing the set in a little basket. Tiny parts, so don't get it for a child that still wants to put things in their mouths. But not too small for a preschooler and older to enjoy.
