When you receive the toy it is in demo mode- loud as it is intended to be heard over the noise of screaming children in a store. Take it out of demo mode into play for quieter play or turn it to glow only for quiet crib play. It is clearly an improvement over the old model as it is easy to squeeze and you have the option of music!
