Playskool Cool Crew Phil The Drill Review

My son is 20 months old and loves this drill! It really works too, with larger plastic screws - like ones available with the Bob the Builder tool belt set. Phil the Drill talks, but the voice is a little gruff and the loud volume is not adjustable. However, pieces of clear packing tape over the speakers work great to bring the volume to a good level. We did this before we gave the gift to our son, so he doesn't know the difference.

This animated, electronic drill is a child's best "building" buddy! He's very talkative and friendly too. He says a lot of fun phrases, makes realistic drill sounds and encourages your child to "build" with confidence.

Fisher-Price Manny's Transforming Tool Truck Review

I was so excited when I first saw this toy. It looked like it came with quite a few of Manny's Tools and my son could actually take things apart and 'fix' them. There are 9 different fixing activities: toaster, clock, camera, fan, radiator, engine, air filter, battery, and spark plug. Most of the parts come completely off of the truck (not the engine or the spark plug). Manny makes suggestions on what to fix, your child may receive a phone call from a client stating that their item is not working properly, or your child can choose. The truck hood opens to fix the engine parts and the bed of the truck converts into Manny's Repair Shop. This set comes with: Rusty (pipe wrench), Felipe (phillips head screwdriver), Squeeze (pliers), Dusty (saw), and a vise. Once a project is completed, Manny congratulates the child on his/her accomplishment.
Here are the problems that I have discovered: 1. The wrench (Rusty) does not work very well. You cannot move him in a circular motion given the tight spaces of the screws. You need to constantly take him off and re-adjust. Therefore, my son opts to use the pliers (Squeeze), but he is not coordinated enough at this age to do so. He becomes frustrated and wants me to fix the item. 2. The saw (Dusty) has no real purpose and is not interactive. A piece of wood sits in the vice and you may freely saw the wood. No instruction is given and it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the toy. 3. Occasionally, Manny states (as he does in his show) to measure it twice and cut it once. However, this toy does not come with a tape measure. Not really sure what we are supposed to measure. It is just a random statement. 4. Where is Manny? There is a front seat that is large enough to store all the parts and still have room for a Manny doll. 5. The roof of the truck cab removes too easily. My son tries to push the truck or lift it by the roof and it pops off. I am constantly having to put it back together.
Overall, my son (and husband) like this toy. We do not watch the show, but it is a unique toy for children who like to try and fix things on their own. I only gave it four stars primarily for the price. We purchased this toy from Target for $55 (less than listed on Amazon), but I still would expect a Manny doll to come with it for the price.

Step into Manny's world with this amazing transforming tool truck. Manny's big red truck is equipped with four tools from the show and lots of fun things to fix. There are five engine parts in all that may break down at random, and Manny can only fix them with your help.
Just like in the show, your child will receive a phone call from different people in the neighborhood asking you to fix their broken items. Can you pick the correct tool for the job? The "Fix-It Right" song plays to help you along! Press the special Manny button, which offers helpful phrases for further encouragement. Once you make the correct fixes, the item comes alive with fun sound effects. Features tons of bilingual phrases, sound effects and fix-it jobs, plus "blueprints" that show how to do the fixes. Truck also transforms into Manny's tool bench for two-in-one play, and Manny figure fits inside the cab of the truck for take-along play. Requires three "AA" batteries, included. Measures 20"L x 7.5"W x 10"H.

While searching for the perfect tool box for my 5 year old son, I noticed the one sold at ToysRus for 4.99 had many complaints about the clasp of the case breaking off the same day the child got it. I knew I had to spend more but didn't want to spend that much more and this tool box seems to do the trick. You get 6 accessories with the tool box. Although I have yet to open the case because it is a Christmas gift, it seems durable from the outside. I shall return if i should have any problems just so you are aware of them. I did think it was bigger but it is still a nice size.

I love love love this set! Talk about a space saver. Tell those relatives this year, instead of giving a workbench, a doctor set, a baby changing station, a kitchen and a school set, give this toy!
Sure, its another plastic thing, but it sure beats 10 plastic things! This bench is includes a sink and shelf with hooks, plus a cute phone. It also includes the 'school set' shown in the photo.
This was originally bought for my 3 year old son, who loves to play with the kitchen at Target. We saw the kitchen bin and bought it on the spot. We have added the workshop, baby changing bins as well. My 6 year old can be found playing WITH my 3 year old. Both boys and girls can get into this bench.
The one drawback is the play center comes with 4 different sets and only has real places to store 2. The 2 on the bottom in the photo are sitting on the floor. Ok by me, but not exactly what you might think you are getting if only glancing at the box.
Only from Target, so don't get sucked in to the $100 price tag from some merchants on this site. Original price is $49.99. Bins sell for $19.99 each.

This is an awesome toy for Handy Manny fans. My girls (aged 5 and 2) have had it for nearly a year and it rarely goes a day without being used. They love the tools and use them to measure and "work" on other toys. My youngest sings the hop hop jump in song when she puts the tools back in the toolbox. I recently got another one for my nephew who just turned five, and he adores it just as much as my kids.
