(More customer reviews)I was surprised by the poor review above--til I realized it was a young person looking at the dolls on line and not liking how plain they are. My friend has the Ryan's room dolls and we both like the simplicity--they are well made and sort of featureless--but that is good for freeplay--they are not supposed to look like anyone in particular. Our daughters are 3 and 4. THey are sturdy and simple, not fancy, and might take a little getting used to if kids are used to Barbie and Bratz, but these are really preferable.

(More customer reviews)Our 4-year old daughter, as well as myself, have a hard time getting the people to stand up. The legs are uneven and fall down easily once they are standing. On the plus side, the limbs are bendable so they can stand or sit. The dining room table is not high enough for the peoples' legs to fit underneath so it is kind of akward.

(More customer reviews)I agree with the people who said that toy manufacturers need to be more "with it," in order to develop a wider customer base. Allowing people to buy the dolls separately would be a step in the right direction. Also, why are dolls in the "asian" family all sporting the same tired stereotyped bowl cut??? That made me laugh out loud. It looks like in the two versions of white families, a great deal of time and effort was made to give individual members different hair types, colors, haircuts. I am aware that most east asians have dark hair, but we have a variety of hair textures believe it or not (from stick straight to wavy and even sometimes, curled) from light brown to blue-black. We certainly do not all have the same haircuts!!!
