Pita from Mexico Doll by Karito Kids Review

I bought this doll on sale (50% off at the NEX, March '09) for about $40.00 - We like the book & my daughter enjoys brushing her lovely hair & her size & we all like the ethnic qualities & prettiness of her & plan to make clothes for her. I like the doll, but $40.00 is pretty much the MAX I would pay for her.
Though she seems to be pretty well made, she WOULD BE WONDERFUL IF she had articulated (or otherwise bendable) knees & elbows & blinking eyes. My daughter loves her new doll - but the limited poses make the doll less "fun". For example, We fixed a play ice cream cone to her hand, but can't get her hand anywhere near her mouth. The doll cannot be made to hug or hold the various small animals my daughter has given her - which she would be able to do if she had pose-able joints.
If these dolls had pose-able joints & blinking eyes - I would probably want to collect them all.... If she also had softer arms & legs (like her torso)with the same hair & face & overall size, I would be willing to cough up the bigger bucks & still want to buy several.
But, I guess that would be a different doll.... Maybe they'll make Karito Supreme Edition someday.....

I bought this baby alive for my daughter, my niece and my neighbors daughter, they just love this doll she drinks her bottle and kicks her feet to let u know she is wet. I bought the original baby alive last year the one that eats her own baby food that was a disaster becaue my daughter put real food in her that i didn't know about it must have been in her mouth for a long time because it produced a foul order, anyway the doll was thrown in trash, but this new one wets n wiggles is perfect no food just water.

This doll is absolutely gorgeous. This picture doesn't do it justice. I was kind of bummed that it cost more than most of the other Groovy Girl dolls but bought it anyway because my daughter loves ballerinas and princesses and this one is both. The doll arrived today and it is just so pretty. The dress is really nice and sparkles, so do her accessories. The hair is strands of white, garnet and brown yarn and the top part is tied up with ribbon (there's a bow in the back). Her tights match the detail on her purse and the purse is actually open. Obviously it won't hold much but my daughter loves to put things in purses (she's 4). I'm sure this will be her absolute favorite Christmas gift this year. It was well worth the extra money.
Her eyes are a light bluish green, which doesn't match anything but whatever. I figure it will hold up well except the choker/necklace will probably be destroyed at some point by one of my kids but the doll itself looks like it can "survive", possibly the dress too.

My 3 year old daughter loves this doll. The faces she makes are so cute and face is smooth like skin. She is a little messy though when it comes to feeding her. We've only done it once - it was quite a hassle. The amount of water you have to give her to wash the food down goes right through the doll and her diaper and on the floor - the diapers cannot soak up that much water!
It is still a cute doll, and my daughter just pretend feeds her, and will occasionally give her a little water from the bottle and change her diaper. I still like it besides the messiness - you don't have to feed her. She's still cute and says the most adorable things, and my daughter is in love with her!

Can not tell you how much use these dolls have had. I gave a set to my cousin to put in his dental office with the Maxim Dollhouse that has 4 open sides, and these dolls get used everyday by many children. They look like new after being played with all day long for over a year.
Would highly recommend these dolls made by Maxim. You will be able to give them to your grandchildren.

American Girl Addy Doll, Book & Accessories Review

American Girl Addy Doll, Book and Accessories

My daughters, ages 6 and 9, LOVE this doll. I also really enjoyed the books that came with the doll. The stories are well-written and explain the doll's accessories, as they pertain to that era in our history. my only gripe would be the doll's hair. As an African-American, I don't know anyone with hair that unmanageable and it also shed-- A LOT. Other than our troubles with Addy's hair, I would HIGHLY recommend this doll and the books that tell her story.

Santa brought Mexican Barbie to our house this past Christmas and she has proven to be a welcomed addition. My wife's family is Tex-Mex and our Mexican heritage is celebrated throughout the year. My daughter loves that Barbie is so beautiful with dark eyes and hair just like herself, my wife, her cousins, aunts and grandmothers. Mattel has done well to produce dolls in a wide spectrum beyond the blue-eyed blonde-haired icon.

Plan Toy Doll House Asian Family Review

I agree with the people who said that toy manufacturers need to be more "with it," in order to develop a wider customer base. Allowing people to buy the dolls separately would be a step in the right direction. Also, why are dolls in the "asian" family all sporting the same tired stereotyped bowl cut??? That made me laugh out loud. It looks like in the two versions of white families, a great deal of time and effort was made to give individual members different hair types, colors, haircuts. I am aware that most east asians have dark hair, but we have a variety of hair textures believe it or not (from stick straight to wavy and even sometimes, curled) from light brown to blue-black. We certainly do not all have the same haircuts!!!
