(More customer reviews)There has been a change in the little ponyville ponies in the last few months and this has extended to these larger ponys. They now have the Hairstyles in a snap, which means these ones no longer have manes which you can brush.
Instead, scootaloo has two hat/wigs which can fit on her head, she also comes with shoes and two plastic costumes.
She comes in a resuseable box (EXCELLENT!) this was such a good idea, that means there is limited packaging, and what it comes in is mostly reuseable -a great recycling idea and it is a really pretty carry bag too.
Overall my kids love these new ideas. The ponys are great and extend out what they can do with them.

Be prepared to help with removing the packaging because some of the plastic is actually stitched to the pony's hair. For the price I paid, I was wishing it came with a brush or comb or some extra accessories. However, I received what I was expecting.

(More customer reviews)We love the baby My Little Ponies! The hooded towel fits well with the ear cut-outs, and my daughter likes it because she and her brother both have hooded towels too (of course, without ear holes!). The ducky can attach to her arm so she can "hold" them.
When I asked my little girl what she would say to someone who was thinking about getting one of these for their little girl, her response was, "They can't have mine, because I like mine. But if they already have the mommy one, then they need a baby one. If they don't have a mommy one or a baby one, they should get both. Because they are very really fun." (By the way, she calls the regular pony "the mommy." She does lots of pretend play with the mommy and baby ponies, and it's fun to listen in!)
(You should note, though, that most big box stores have My Little Pony items for waaaaay less than I've ever seen them on Amazon. Feel free to find what you like here, but check the price elsewhere before you buy!)

She comes with 3 sets of pony tails which you can mix, and twirl along with a comb. It is a nice, fun set. You can also get RAinbow dash in the series of Super Long Hair ponys in this new set.
My young girls really like these new ponys - I am not sure if this is just the novelty of the new, or if it will be a lasting phase in the whole pony thing play. However they have been playing ponys for the last 3-4 years, mostly with the smaller Ponyville sets. These hairstyling ponies really appealed to them though. You can use other hair accessories to supplement these to extend their play with them too.

(More customer reviews)As part of the new look ponys, with new packaging and new faces, the My little Ponys are also coming with styelable hair that is great fun
So far there are two in the set that I know of. The Rainbow dash is great fun. The hair is super long, but you can mix and match the hairstyles as it comes with other hair pieces too. They are really pretty ponies and quite different in looks from the previous ponys. They have brighter eyes, more open friendly faces, and look more like the ponys from the DVD's
I don't know about the educational value, but as with all My Little Pony stuff these are incredibly hard wearing and durable, In years of collecting this stuff for my girls we have only had one breakage (the RAinbow Dash house)
We like the new look pony, and like the new idea in styling - they are really fun and a bright addition if your children enjoy pony play.
