Barbie Fairytopia Mermaidia: 5" Merfairies - Purple and Yellow Review

Barbie Fairytopia Mermaidia: 5 Merfairies - Purple and Yellow

I can't help myself, I just love these, I bought them for my daughter and (4) and she has really got off her pony phase and into Mermaids. They are so much more appealing in doll form than the Barbie (Elina) doll of the series. They have very anime style faces of them - quite extreme but they look exactly like they do in the movie. There is another set of them which you can also buy (also in the movie) and a great little castle thingy to go with it. All pieces seem to be hard enough wearing to resist little fingers breaking things too quickly. Great colours, appealing faces and just like they appear in the movie!

Barbie 12 Dancing Princesses: Let's Dance Doll - African American Review

Barbie 12 Dancing Princesses: Let's Dance Doll - African American

My daughter wanted the movie soo bad for Christmas as well as the doll. I saw the black doll and thought...it be a good choice for her being that my daughter is of the same race. The doll does a lot of dances and does work as promised. I'd recommend this doll for any lil princess regardless of which kind. The sound is a little muffled so I don't suggest having the tv or anything on too loud. Nonetheless worth the money!

This is a very cute and well-made little toy. My daughter is so into mermaids right now, and she plays with this and her Ariel dress-up toy every single day. It attaches nicely to the seahorse, and the colors are beautiful. Great for imaginative play.

PRETTY FLOWERS BARBIE DOLL Review

PRETTY FLOWERS BARBIE DOLL

I bought the Pretty Flowers Barbie for my 4 year old daughter. Bailey is rough on her Barbie dolls, as I would suspect are many other 4 year olds. For this reason, I hesitate before I buy her expensive Barbie dolls with lots of special features. On the other hand, the knock-offs which shall remain nameless are generally of very poor quality. I found Pretty Flowers Barbie to be a great solution. It is inexpensive yet maintains the high quality and durability of all the high-end Barbie products.

Just pay attention to the demensions. When I saw the word "Barbie" I was thinking the doll would be the size of a normal Barbie. Not so. She's about 2/3 the size of a normal doll. Still cute.

Beautiful barbie. I've complaining that they don't make barbie dresses as pretty and well made as in the 80's, but this dress sure is.

Barbie In A Mermaid Tale Swim 'N Dance Mermaid Teresa Doll Review

Barbie In A Mermaid Tale Swim 'N Dance Mermaid Teresa Doll

We have both of these. The doll comes with two 'flowers' that keep her upright when in water and a windy hair piece to play with her hair.
To use the doll, you wind up the tail fin and then let it go. The 'motor' (a rubber band?) turns the fins. The problem is that the elasticity of the drive means that when you let the fin go after winding it, it goes very fast and then stops. I think this would have been much better if the fin always turned at about the same even speed. As it is, you spin the tail forever for about half a second of frantic jerky motion of the fins in the water. Whether standing upright (won't work in a bathtub) or 'swimming' under the water, neither works smoothly or easily. It's just a quick jerk couple of spins and that's it. The motor just spins too fast and the water pressure isn't enough to slow it down.
The doll is quite large and doesn't fit into a bathtub - certainly not in the upright position for the 'dancing' motion with the flowers on her wrists. I think she is far better suited to a pool where she has room to move around. Even then, she doesn't really 'swim' and my 7 year old quickly lost interest in winding up the tail only to have it spin wildly for half a second and then peter out. The doll just jerked more than swam when you put her in the water. She doesn't really go forward and we had a serious issue with the tail spinning but the body not - kind of ruining the feel of swimming and appearing more like she's in her death throes.
The tail fins are made of thin vinyl type of material and if left into a bent position too long, keeps that position permanently. Then she no longer swims at all. And the tail bends 45 degrees - I believe to make it easier to spin but it just ends up getting stuck there - further taking away from any 'swimming action'.
In all, we've already lost the two flower pieces, the tails are all bent from bathtub play, and my 7 year old long ago stopped trying to wind her up. Which makes a big waste of money in having that motor in there in the first place. She definitely does not live up to the hype of the commercial.
We haven't been able to try this in a pool - I think that is really where she might be useful. Definitely too large and clunky for a bathtub.
