(More customer reviews)I bought this doll on sale (50% off at the NEX, March '09) for about $40.00 - We like the book & my daughter enjoys brushing her lovely hair & her size & we all like the ethnic qualities & prettiness of her & plan to make clothes for her. I like the doll, but $40.00 is pretty much the MAX I would pay for her.
Though she seems to be pretty well made, she WOULD BE WONDERFUL IF she had articulated (or otherwise bendable) knees & elbows & blinking eyes. My daughter loves her new doll - but the limited poses make the doll less "fun". For example, We fixed a play ice cream cone to her hand, but can't get her hand anywhere near her mouth. The doll cannot be made to hug or hold the various small animals my daughter has given her - which she would be able to do if she had pose-able joints.
If these dolls had pose-able joints & blinking eyes - I would probably want to collect them all.... If she also had softer arms & legs (like her torso)with the same hair & face & overall size, I would be willing to cough up the bigger bucks & still want to buy several.
But, I guess that would be a different doll.... Maybe they'll make Karito Supreme Edition someday.....

Friends Forever Girls- Kyleen Doll Review

She can also be cleaned and is so far extremely durable. These are cute dolls that stand up to the play of a 7 year old girl quite nicely.

Karito Kids Zoe From Nyc, USA World Collection Doll/Book Starter Set Review

(More customer reviews)I bought Gia. The half soft, half shoulder plate body is done very well. Your child (or your inner child) will like being able to dress these dolls in sleeveless dresses and still give them a good hug. Nice to see the hair is not overdone but believable.
Was very surprised at the detail given to her clothing. The little jacket resembles boiled wool, being made of a kind of jersey, just as real boiled wool is. No mismatched seams or strings hanging either. Since I sew, I noticed the way the collar was lined on the underside and stitched to make it lie flat and has real covered buttons.
If anyone out there plans to make their doll's clothes, the dolls can wear the patterns Vogue and others designed for 18" dolls. Of course, you may have a add an inch or so to the sleeves and hem but the fit is good. I had stumbled across a blog showing the doll and an American girl side by side for comparisons. Well worth the money, excellent quality throughout.

Karito Kids Ling From China World Collection Doll/Book Starter Set Review

(More customer reviews)I am a grown up doll collector. The majority of the dolls I collect are actually dolls that are intended for children's play. I have wanted one of the Karito Kids dolls ever since I first read about them coming out. Both Ling and Lulu were on my list. I received Ling as a gift and she is just beautiful! She is larger than I expected her to be. I thought for some reason she would be more online with a Sasha doll's size or an early Sylvia Natterer doll. But she is a bit bigger. Often when you see a doll in promotional pictures they are done up in a way that never translates well to real life - i.e. the doll you get can not possibly measure up to the one you saw in pictures. However, this doll is every bit as a beautiful as her pictures - even more so. I have not felt that way since I received my first Annette Himstedt doll in the mail. I recommend these dolls to adult and child collectors alike. They are extremely well made, solid dolls that are very reasonably priced in the world of doll pricing. It can be especially difficult to find good ethnic dolls and Karito Kids have definitely outdone themselves in that arena. I look forward to one day adding Lulu from Kenya to my collection as well.

Gia from Italy World Collection Doll/Book Starter set Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter recieved this doll for christmas. She is 8 years old. She played with it for a few months and then the leg fell off. I tried the company to see if they could repair it, but they said no. They do not repair dolls and would not even offer suggestions on how to go about repairing the dolls leg. After several emails, I still have a doll that is expensive w/one leg and no child playing with it. I guess, if I can't find someone to fix it, it will be a $100 doll in the trash. AND, my other daughter has the Zoey American doll, and the same thing is happening to that dolls leg. She is no longer playing with it for fear that she will loose the leg. Bottom line, I would not recommend this product to anyone, unless you are prepared for disappointment and not allow the child to play with it.

Beautiful outfit, many options for customizing this to make several items in a doll's wardrobe. The under dress made wonderful pajamas. Comes with both American Girl and slim body sizes! Great value for this item (other patterns go for as much as $30, with just one size). (I can't wait to get the Karito Kids doll to see if this fits, but I am betting it will.)
I just finished our 3rd outfit from this pattern. They all turned out just wonderful. Pattern was easy to read. Perfect activity for mother/daughter to do. I did this with my friend's daughter (I have none of my own), and we cut it one evening and completed it the next. It was her first time sewing, and she had a ball. I asked her if she wanted to do it again and she squealed and hugged me, all the time hopping up and down. When I asked her if it was to hard she said "Easy Cheesy Rice and Peasy" ... I guess that is 8 year old for "Easy and fun".
HIGHLY recommended.

She is 21" which is bigger than the American girl doll, but she is so much more realistic looking and the detail is unreal. It also comes with a code that allows you to play online games with the Karito Kid girls and also lets you choose with charity you would like to give part of the proceeds from the doll to. My daughter loved this doll, and though it's somewhat pricey, I would say it is definitely worth the price especially compared to the American girl dolls. It also comes with a hardcover book with a story about your doll you purchase.
