(More customer reviews)I wasnt aware that these dolls are big because I can only see screenshots from Toys R us and not the actual doll from the store. A friend gave me this River doll as a gift and I was amazed on how big this doll is (12 inches to be exact). The figure itself is well made as well as the accessories. You can really tell that its high quality because of the materials used. Among other lines, this doll has the best hair style on other previous lines of River. Although its not that educational, I put three stars because their fashion sense help the kids to know about fashion, and whats hip and whats not, and what looks good in you and whats not.
I was shocked when I saw the price on this doll here in the Philippines. (...)

Secret Hearts Ken - 1992 Review

I am no expert as to come to dolls but I believe that Mattel was good at coming up with dolls that were able to entertain children all over world. Back to the late 60s early 70s mattel was brave enough to present the world with of a collection of dolls that not only did show values such as friendship and family but most of all there were black guys and girls introducing children to an interracial world which was admirable to say the least, considering that racism has been an issue for such a long time.
Sad but true, and I believe that children should feel at home with colours wherever they come from. it is true that at times Barbie's world was much too expensive but there were and there are many other positive sides to this doll. As to this particular Ken he is characterized by a positive and reassuring all-American handsome face plus muscular body without looking much to macho. Apart from his outfit which leaves much to desire the quality of plastic is good, he is sufficiently poseable ( but that has never been the strong point of Barbies and co.)The idea of coming up with all pink hearts if touched by a heart-shaped bag previously filled with ice is a bit mawkish but what the heck children will have fun all the same and that's a good question for teachers....how can some ice make my Ken's pants and bow-tie turn pink? As simple as it is , well that's a chemical reaction which can be useful at school without being pretentious or irritatingly too intelligent :-)
Collectors and children get a nice outfit for this handsome guy, Mr Ken and sipmly enjoy him for what he stands for....fun. He's a toy so please let's stop torturing kid with all that rubbish concerning boy/girl toys. Let's stop pestering gay people. A toy is a toy. If you buy a dinosaur you won't necessarily become a prominent palaeontologist :-). :Let's leave kids and collectors alone without issues that are out of the question other than ridiculous to say the least. Fun and fantasy can only help. Enjoy this handsome guy and live long and prosper :-)

Barbie as The Princess and The Pauper: Ken as King Dominick and Tutor Julian Doll (African American) Review

(More customer reviews)This is, according to our daughter, a great Ken doll. It has the bonus of coming with an extra outfit (in the same period style as the one shown). His hair has some sort of hair gel on it to keep it in place, which doesn't stay in place long with average usage, but doesn't ever look bad. The hair is a little "greasy" to the touch, though. Also nice is that fact that he does bend at the elbows and knees so he can be posed in somewhat natural (well, for a Barbie doll) way.

Ken has dual roles as King Dominick and tutor, Julian in the Barbie video "The Princess and The Pauper." Girls can act out the story with the doll and make costume changes for him. The outfit for King Dominick has a long, regal coat and vest with cravat, crown and high boots. The period-inspired costume for Julian the tutor is dark blue and includes accessories to help train the pauper to be a princess. Measures approximately 11.5" tall.

Barbie Nutcracker KEN as Prince Eric Doll (2001) Review

(More customer reviews)This Ken, possibly the most unique since the original "Beauty and the Beast" Prince, truly defines excellent quality.His regal red "velvet" jacket, adorned with glittering golden button and decorations make him look like the royalty he is. His white tights and knee length boots, all made from the very finest materials, carry out exquisite detail. His hair, very real, and most certainly NOT plastic, is niely done with some different colored streaks of brown, and to finish his dashing ensemble a glittering crown and swashbuckling sword.
The most unique part, however, is the nutcracker mask, complete with glittering cape, trimmed in white fur. All with the optional addition of a hat over the mask.
A very wonderful doll well worth your money.

(More customer reviews)I love this Silkstone Ken. He's my one and only. Beautiful to gaze upon. It was months before I could bring myself to debox him as I wanted to enjoy him in his perfect "never-removed-from-the-box" state for as long as possible before I eventually caved and deboxed him. Dressing him was indeed a test in patience and dexterity of the hands and fingers. He comes already dressed in his undergarments and socks. Start dressing him with the shirt. Be careful not to get his thumb caught in the shirt cuff. Take your time so as not to tear the clothes. After you get the shirt on and snapped shut (2 snaps) then comes the blue tie. I had forgotten how to tie a tie, so I had to search for a diagram on how to do that. Don't be frustrated if you find you can't get his shirt collar to rest perfectly over the tie. You won't be the first that's happened to. Now come the trousers. This was the hardest for me because it was quite a struggle to get these snapped closed at the waist. I finally managed to do that. Then came sliding the belt through the belt loops and fastening the belt into the buckle. Take your time. Seriously. Remember you're doing this to have fun, now, right? Okay. Then comes the jacket. That's pretty easy. I haven't figured out how to get him to hold the briefcase, magazine and coffee cup. Maybe some clear adhesive tape will do the trick. Then place him on the doll stand that comes with this set and there you have it. All that's missing is a fedora. I wish Mattel had included a hat to give it all a complete look. Oh, and I wasn't sure what rating to give for "durability" because I don't really want to test how durable this Ken is by beating on him with a blunt object. He's much too lovely to mark up. So I compromised by giving 3 stars for durability. I am always careful with my dolls and treat them with tender loving care.

I'd have preferred something less "boy-toy" than a beach-related Ken, but my grandchild loves this one. He's as well made as most Barbie products, and was instantly a hit.

Among them a set of sun glasses that went the first day. It dresses on and off easily which is important to a child, the look was appreciated, whereas the absence of shoes was not.
i live abroad and hence the availability of Ken-dolls to chose from was limited. Only a few stores offered international shipment and the shipment available was, in price, more than the doll itself. However, the child was happy, the doll is in good shape and hence we are content with the purchase.

(More customer reviews)I am a big fan of the Wizzard of Oz. My granddaughter fell in love with the movie at age 2, she is now 10. Although I am not a doll collector, I decided to purchase some of the Wizzard of Oz dolls. I couldn't find anything regarding the Wizard of Oz until I discovered these dolls. They are fantastic. I have purchased them all except the Wicked Witch (for some reason she is quite spendy).
When the doll(s) arrived they where even better than they looked online.
I gave Dorothy to my granddaughter for her birthday, she loved it. I can't comment on the educational value or the durability, as my granddaughter has displayed her doll, she doesn't really give it a workout in playing. The doll is beautiful, I was really impressed, it is wonderfully detailed. I am very satisfied with my purchase and so is my granddaughter.

I fell in love with it and I had to get one for myself! Barbie is stunning as Lily Munster, with the greenish skin, a beautifully crafted and detailed gown and jewelry, and that trademark streak in her long hair. Ken is even more fun as Herman Munster, with the stooped shoulders, flattop head, dark eyes, monster suit, and Frankenstein boots. He even has miniature bolts in his neck like Herman!! Even my husband got a kick out of that one.
For the avid collector, the box is really cool, too. The backdrop shows the front of the Munsters home and the back of the box has really neat television stills, a brief description and history of the show, and even fun quotables from the series! Both dolls come with doll stands, great for displaying, even with the box! Even if you didn't watch the show as a kid, you will flip for this! Barbie and Ken as the Munsters Giftset is a must-have for collectors who specialize in Barbie, dolls, ghouls, or television memorabilia! Five stars!!!

Barbie and Ken are perfect as the beloved, offbeat couple Lily and Herman Munster, from the famous 1960s TV show The Munsters.
