Olivia 10" Gund Plush Olivia 75100 Review

Olivia 10 Gund Plush Olivia 75100
Average Reviews:

Not another soft toy, this: Olivia is a character from a small series of books about amazingly human-like girl-piglet. No exagerration there - Olivia stories are perhaps the most thoughtful, subtle and incisive illustrated books for children published in a decade.
The man behind the image of Olivia, Ian Falconer, is of theatre design background and not what you may call a trained children's book illustrator. Rather than illustrating a narrative, the stories are built around the image of Olivia, her mother and her brother - and the image itself is incredibly accomplished, perfected and developed in a remarkably professional way.
So it is amazing to see now how this image was transformed into the shape of a toy - make no mistake, this is not an easy task. You have probably seen many cartoon characters who became dull three-dimensional imitations of themselves when toys were made: a lifeless computer-generated shape, with no name other than "merchandise". That's all they are.
Olivia is different. She's beyond cute, and is likely to become one of your child's favorite cuddly toys, treasured for years and years.

Amazing white dress with sweetest eyelet fabric patterns that really make the details of this dress. Adorable and love the bodice. Nice details and finished very well. My daughter is crazy for this one. These gowns are SO MUCH NICER than the princess-type glitter gowns put out by Disney or Mattel. Definitely buy more for this price!

Barbie Fairytopia Magic of The Rainbow Fairies: Laverna, Elina, Azura (2006) Review

Bought these for my daughter along with the movie. It's always fun to watch her act out with the dools while she is watching it. Was a little disappointed in the packaging. The plastic was so tight around Laverna's head that it popped off while I was getting it out of the packaging. I super glued it back on with alot of difficulty but it's holding up so far.

This is a different styled glamor gown I have added to the collection of Barbie gowns for a very special little girl in our family. She loves to play pretend and dress up all her Barbie dolls in these long, flowing gowns - they are really gorgeous! She has quite a collection and I keep adding more gowns all the time.

This gown is for a special little girl in our family who plays pretend princess and loves "dress up" clothes with sparkles. She loves her collection of sparkly, lacy, full-skirted gowns for Barbie. This is a gift and is stored away with all the other gowns until her special day, coming soon. That's why I only gave these gowns a 4-star rating - I don't know just how child-proof and durable they will be once she begins taking the gowns off and on.

Though our granddaughter asked for this for Christmas, I didn't expect she'd still have any of the pieces left after a few days. They are quite small, and as you would expect, easily lost or misplaced. However, three months later, she still can locate at least some of the pieces, and still likes playing with them.

Barbie Fairytopia Elina Doll Review

Barbie Fairytopia Elina Doll
Average Reviews:

It's official, today my little girl will turn four. With that in mind, you can imagine how excited she was to finally get the "Barbie" Elina Doll with light-up wings.
I hate to say it, but as a male adult who is almost thirty, I even find this doll to be pretty cool. First of all, the doll's wings light up via the use of fiber optic lighting much like that found on miniature Christmas trees. By pressing a button on her back, her wings flicker to life. She also comes with a little blue guy. I don't know his name, but I'm sure he's in the "Fairytopia" movie. We have that as well, but I haven't watched it yet.
Here's where I really get embarassed. This doll has some really cool boots that look to be made out of vines. They go all the way up to Elina's knees. She also has flowers "tattooed" all over her arms and legs.
In short, this is a really colorful doll that I'm sure any young girl(and some of us older dudes, too) would really enjoy. It's a sure hit with your young ones!

Elina Fairytopia Barbie Doll is a beautiful fairy and the main character in the Fairytopia DVD movie (sold separately), but unlike her friends, she has no wings at first. She takes a journey to help her friends and defeats the evil Laverna, saving the flowers and Fairytopia. As a reward for her courage, she is granted the most beautiful wings of all the fairies, by the beautiful Enchantress. The beautiful Elina doll has a pink flower-inspired dress, rooted eyelashes and magical fiber optic light-up wings. Measures approximately 12.5" tall. Requires 3 button-cell batteries (included).

Vtech Bugsby Reading System Pen and Starter Book Review

Vtech Bugsby Reading System Pen and Starter Book
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We first purchased the Tag for our (then) 5 year old son, but could not get the audio to download. After numerous emails to LeapFrog and many tries on several different (family & friends) computers, we just could not get it to work. Very disappointing as I felt that it was truly a quality product. The only book he can use with it is the one it came with.
Enter the Bugsby. Each book has it's own cartridge which has a place for storage inside the back cover. For that reason I gave it an extra star for "ease of use" (at least for us!). As long as you don't loose these you're good to go and can change out the cartridge for a new story as many times as you want(the Tag could only store 5 stories at a time, if you wanted to add more you add to remove another). The pen device works in the same manner as a Tag. It has a place for headphones to be plugged in, buttons to adjust the volume up and down and a "read the whole story" button.
As far as the book that comes with it goes, it's a simple story about how Bugsby, who has lost his glasses, searches within different stories (accompanied by his friends Josh and Hanna)to find them. Along the way it labels different animals, and includes "game" buttons on each page (with "stop", "repeat", "yes" and "no" buttons to be used with it). Games include things such as "Find the animal next to the squirrel", "What animal begins with this sound 'p'?", "Do these words have the same vowel sound, 'cup'/'mat'?" and have different levels. Touching in different areas of the book produce little silly sounds, characters saying a few phrases, and short songs. The back of the book includes a two page spread of the alphabet with games to go along with it and a "Story Writer" spread which allows the child to come up with several versions of a short story, changing the character, action and setting. The book has the option to read each individual page or the whole book. I would say the reading level is K-2 depending on the child.
Overall my son (and I) like this product. I don't think it offers quite as many games or levels of play as the Tag, and the way the narrator voice of the book says certain words sounds strange to me (the T's are overemphasized on certain words - other character voices are fine though). But considering the lower price and the fact that you don't have to worry about downloading anything, the Bugsby worked much better for us.
