She is 6 years old - which is not too young at all considering how very very tiny the accessories are. It does not come with furniture or critters. Along with hit, she has one family, one set of baby twins, and 3 rooms of furniture. It would be impossible to fit more than 3 rooms of furniture in it. Her neighbor also has this set and they continue to spend the better part of many play dates for almost a year playing with Calico Critters. Idea to try it out: my daughter first received an animal family for her birthday and then I purchased one of the very small homes (a baby windmill nursery). When she invested a lot of time with that, we invested in the townhouse and rooms.
