(More customer reviews)My 3 1/2 year old granddaughter first fell in love with the vintage Strawberry Shortcake dolls that her mother has. We started adding the newer dolls with the DVD stories, and she absolutely loves them! The bonus with the new dolls is the long hair that is easily brushed by a little girl. She blends the old and new and has an entire "collection" of Strawberry friends. We have bought the swirl, country, and winter dolls in the newer style. I like these dolls for the same reason I bought the original Strawberry dolls-simple and sweet with no body image or attitude image that Barbie dolls and Bratz dolls have.

There are small pieces, so we keep it all in a little plastic tub. It's the perfect toy for a child who is seven, but I question whether my five year old could keep up with all the pieces. Would definitely buy again!

She was disappointed that the Lemon Meringue figure was not included but was to be purchased separate. The picture on the box is misleading for a little girl. It is cute and easy to assemble and she will get a Lemon Meringue Doll to go with it.

(More customer reviews)When I received the new 2009 Hasbro SSC pieces, I was surprised at how durable they seem to be. The plastic is relatively heavy and the toys themselves are pretty substantial. I have high hopes that they should hold up well with play.
*I will say that Hasbro is a bit stingy with the accessories in these smaller playsets - the full-length mirror is actually just paperboard, as is the strawberry rug (I don't think they should include these in the total number of pieces)
**Additionally, if your little gal is notoriously bad at keeping track of small pieces, the accessories in this entire series are TEENY-TINY... no joke! I suggest providing a tub to keep all the items together, otherwise, they'll surely end up inside the vaacum cleaner!

She loves this because Strawberry is about the size of her Pollys, another favorite, and smells really, really good. She also loves the little shelf and pieces, and yes while they are insanely small, anyone used to Polly Pockets is used to that and shes been playing with those for years so this was no big jump for us. She's happy with this set and it fit right in with her Pollys!
