Barbie Dolls of the World: Princess of Ireland - Collector Edition Doll (2001) Review

Barbie Dolls of the World: Princess of Ireland - Collector Edition Doll (2001)

Coming from an Irish family, I have accumulated many different types of Irish collectibles over the years: stuffed animals, Beanie Babies, glasses, books, jewelery...all with some sort of Irish theme. But until recently I didn't have any Irish dolls, porcelain or otherwise. I have been collecting Dolls of the World Barbies for a number of years, and more recently Princess of the World dolls, so I couldn't believe it when I found out that a Princess of Ireland Barbie would be made. I was nervous that the doll wouldn't "feel" Irish enough. So when I received her in the mail I was pleasantly surprised that she was even more beautiful than in the photos online. Her complexion is very fair, and her auburn hair is stunning in natural light. Her green eyes are sparkling and mysterious, and she wears a very light rose eyeshadow that makes her beautiful eyes stand out even more. Her costume is sort of a medieval/Celtic blend. She wears a velvety soft forest green cloak with a golden Tara brooch clasp, a traditional Celtic design. Her dress is a crinkly olive green fabric with a stripe of Celtic designs down the middle. At her waist she wears a belt of three golden medallions with Celtic designs, and on her head, perfectly balanced atop her auburn hair, a golden crown fit for an Irish princess. The box she comes in is also perfect for displaying her in. Appropriately enough, it is green (Ireland is actually a Viking word for green) with golden trim. The backdrop inside of the box is an Irish castle. There is information about the Celts on the back of the box. This is sure to become a treasured keepsake in my family, and I'm planning on buying more for relatives and friends.

Princess of Ireland is a special Barbie that has been crafted with style and loving attention to detail. She has green eyes, auburn hair, and fair skin. She wears a gorgeous cloak and dress ensemble in shades of deep green. The textured fabric has intricate Celtic designs add allure. Though this Barbie has obviously been designed with collectors in mind, there's no reason she can't be added to any Barbie fan's repertoire. The doll comes with a stand and a certificate of authenticity.

Introducing Barbie Collector Doll Silver lable Aine. Known as the Faery Queen of Munster, Áine is the goddess of love. Áine Barbie doll captures the essence of the fabled goddess, wearing a flowing green gown with golden detailing. Reddish blond hair cascades around the doll's exquisitely painted face. Her romantically ethereal look is accented by a golden crown and earrings.

2000 Millennium Princess Barbie Review

2000 Millennium Princess Barbie

10 year old Barbie still pristine in original box. Bought for Granddaughter, who loves Princess type dolls. This one very regal with highly detailed crown/tiara and matching necklace, silver post earrings (don't seem to be removeable) and ring on right hand.
Dress is true dark blue velvet with sparkle sheer stiff fabric around collar and cap of puffy sleeves. There is silver braiding around heart shaped bodice and silver embroidered lace highlighting the bodice and waist as well as along either side of sliver lace fabric front A-line inset of lower dress--which has white satin behind the inset of lace. This comes with a keepsake New Years Eve plastic Crystal cut ornament with "Happy New Year 2000" silver ribbon. I believe this is to simulate the Ball dropped in NYC Times Square.
The couple of drawbacks I see are:
--this may be too pretty for young hands to carefully play with AND the fine grade glitter does rub off of dress at sheer fabric and lace areas (so be careful about getting in little eyes).
--Plus the earrings don't seem to be removeable (as mentioned) AND
--there are NO SHOES on dolls feet but inside cardboard there are some blue heeled shoes and the doll stand.
This Barbie has the more mature face, red lips, almond shaped blue eyes with painted long eyelashes--not the wide-eyed teenage look of newer dolls.
Would recommend to collector, to display or more mature 9-12 years old that takes care of dolls.

Barbie Collector Diwali Barbie Doll Festivals Of The World Review

I really wanted to get the DOTW Princess of India, but was unable to find her so when I saw Diwali Barbie I knew I had to get her.
I love the dolls of the World Collection, I also like watching Indian Movies (Bollywood), personally she looks like those typical Indian Actresses on Indian movies, another reason why I bought her, this doll definitely looks like Bollywood Actress Ashwarya Rai, Anyways back to the review, she has beautiful light greyish side glancing eyes , she has very cute jewellery on her and her sari is just so cute, the designer of this doll really did a good job on her. My only con is that she doesn't look like the doll on the picture on the card, she is beautiful anyway, she comes complete with stand, collector card and Certificate of Authenticity.

The most important and magical festival celebrated in India is Diwali. Homes are decorated with marigolds and mango leaves. Thousands of oil diyas or lamps are lit as auspicious symbols of good luck, and everyone enjoys sweets to the sound of firecrackers and revelers. Diwali Barbie doll wears a traditional teal sari with golden detailing, a lovely pink shawl wrap and exotic jewelry. The final detail is a bindi on the forehead - a jewel or a mark worn by Hindu women to indicate that they are married. Doll cannot stand alone. Measures 12" tall.

Inspired by the romance and passion of Camelot, Ken and Barbie dolls are featured as a couple that legends are made of - King Arthur and Guinevere. Barbie as Guinevere is spellbinding in her full-length slate-blue medieval-style gown featuring long, flowing sleeves and crimson and metallic golden accents. A headpiece of delicate burgundy and golden netting with faux pearls adorns her cascading strawberry blonde hair. Dressed as King Arthur, Ken is clad in a crimson cape and matching velvet tunic with an embroidered lion's crest. A suit of golden "armor" -- including gauntlets and greaves -- and a realistic "sword" on his "leather" belt offer an authentic glimpse of the medieval warrior.

Dolls of the World: Princess of England Barbie Review

Dolls of the World: Princess of England Barbie

Princess of England is a very pretty interpretation of a historical era. Her pink gown resembles like a famous portrait of Elizabeth 1 before she was queen. Her crown has a silhouette like the gable hood of Henry VIII's reign, a nice touch. The wide, square neckline, very full over-sleeves and full skirt represent the general style of the Tudor era nicely. On the back of the box, the doll pictured has full golden undersleeves which are fastened with tight cuffs at the wrist. Technically, this would be more historically correct than the tight, pointed undersleeves on the actual doll, but this is a rather small detail. Honestly I thought the her skirt looks and feels slightly cheap, but a proper brocade would be too expensive for a doll that retails at about $20! It is not a major flaw in my mind. She comes with dark rose colored high-heeled half-boots (same style as Princess of Denmark), not historically accurate but cute and a nice accessory to this costume. Besides, Mattell has only so many shoe molds and these shoes are a welcome change from the flats that don't stay on the doll's feet anyway!
Her face is lovely, with light golden brown eyes, rather natural looking brown eyeshadows, and muted dark pink lips that suit the costume. Her hair color is actually slightly paler than it looks in many photos of the doll, and is very soft and silky.
Her costume is not meant to be removed. The doll's dress is sewn on, and her crown is sewn to her head. This is not an easy doll for redressing, that's why I gave it 4 stars for playability. Also, you might like to know that arms are permanently bent, they are not jointed at the elbow (but this shows off the sleves better than straight arms anyway).
Overall, a very good doll. For a $20, it is surprisingly accurate and her lovely, stately appearance makes her a good value and a must-have for collectors of this line!

Brand New Unopened Box Barbie Princess of the Vikings Dolls of the World Review

Brand New Unopened Box Barbie Princess of the Vikings Dolls of the World

When I saw this doll on the shelf, I immediatley grabbed two of them. The most remarkable thing about her is that her hair is set in a perfect part, and the braids are proportional to her other features. I have never been able to successfully give pigtail braids to a barbie doll, let alone part her hair without the plugs showing. Because of her unique hair, I am going to use her as a model for my homemade german-inspired dresses. (I also want to make a viking costume based on the doll's outfit to match my own long braids!) As far as technical issues go, it might be noted that her clothes are sewn on, and her helmet is tagged to her head in the back. Her shoes are very loose on her feet. She cannot be posed in a sitting position while wearing the breatplate. She was meant to be a display doll in standing position. I would not give this doll to children- it was obvious to me that she was made for the interested teen or collector. In conclusion, I am very glad I bought two of her because now I can undress one of them. Heck, if I had the money I would buy three- one to keep in the box, one to "play with" and one to put on display!

I am just getting started with my collection of the Princess Dolls by Barbie.
I just purchased this doll today and she is gorgeous. I too like the reviewer before me posted, enjoy looking through all the dolls before making a final decision. This doll is very pretty for the fact her outfit is classy and so is her look. Her hair is pinned up very nicely and I just enjoy all ethnic barbies. Well worth the $$.

This doll was really fun, but first some warnings:

Overall, the doll is nice, and when paired with Alexa, sings beautifully.
