(More customer reviews)This is a cute kit for a child or even adult. I found it at my local Michaels for only $7.50. I think it was priced at $14.99 w/50% off. I bought two for that price. In the picture, one sees Once Upon a Time in white letters: that is the cover of the book. It is hardcover and looks very sturdy.
There are two versions of this product. One has 15 sheets (30 front and back) and one has 20 sheets (40 front and back). The ad states this is the 20 page one (40 front and back), so hopefully that is the one you will receive. I can only describe the one I bought, but it looks like the same product with 5 fewer pages.
My 15 page one included die cuts, punch-out shapes, ribbons, sticker sheets, gemstones, sequins, printed sheets (like you use for larger oragami or scrapbooking), and a few other things like glue stick and foam squares. There are only four markers included, but most kids own plenty of markers, crayons, and colored pencils.
In my kit, the princess, prince, and mermaid punch-outs and stickers are Caucasian; there is a brunette princess, blond prince, and blonde and orange haired mermaids. The stickers and punch-outs include basic fairy tale type things: various animals including frogs and deer and butterflies, gnomes, trees, castle (both for land and sea), fairies, dragons, flowers, unicorns, mushrooms, etc. There are letter punch-outs and word or phrase tags.
Overall, a nice kit that will spark a child's creativity. I'll admit, I was happier with my purchase priced at $7.50 than if it had been $34, but by the time you purchase all the individual pieces from a scrapbooking store, the price might even out or be a good deal. Just depends. Hope this helped.

Pixos Disney Fairies Review

(More customer reviews)Many folks have a love-hate relationship with Pixos. Nut my craftsy/"artist-want-to be" princess of a 5-year old niece loves them, and it's an activity that you are almost mandated to share to with them at this age. This pixo kit is the one, so far, she's enjoyed the most. Here's the ups and downs of it:
Upsides:
- Helping TINKERBELL fly is a winner: Tinkerbell is alway a winner with my niece, but making Tinkerbell's pixos wings for her to be able to fly again was a highlight for her with this set. Comes with a cut-out cardboard Tink and the "stickies" needed to attach her wings when you complete them. The wings are the "beginner" level of making - so perfect for this age.
- Tinkerbell in the Lost Island with Fairies and trees you make are even more of a winner: The box is cleverly designed to become a Lost Island forest - for on-going imaginative playability after you've made them.
Downsides:
The downsides are pretty much what people that don't like Pixo's typically will tell you - though my nieces enjoyment of them supercedes these downsides.
- Patience and a plan are required to fully enjoy Pixo's made for this age set:
Bumps that upset Pixos you've already placed happen (this tends to bother adults more than the kids). There's a lot of small pieces (TIP: We make sure we've already poured each color pixos into a little snack ziploc bag to reduce errant pixos floating around), and it does take a lot of spraying with water and a couple of hours for each of your "creations" to dry.
- Pixos aren't a "substitute baby-sitter" type-toy: With younger kids, you really do have to sit down and do the project with them with. To me, it makes it a fun shared activity.
- Placing Pixo's is easier for little fingers than 'adult-sized' fingers": We had no problem doing this one with our hands (the kit doesn't come with a Pixo pen. But, if you are doing them on a regular basis - I highly recommend getting a Pixos Pen Pack Starter Pack Plus Bonus Refill Kit, which includes a PIXO placement pen that adults with bigger hands often find easier to use.

(More customer reviews)i got this as a present for my daughter who loves to play dress up with her barbies and loves to put her mark on everything.when i got the dresses in one dress was stuck on the manican stand and i had to break the stand to get the dress off. the dresses ripped easily after a few times putting them on and off the dolls, the glue didnt hold the gems or the ribbons. the stickers came off. all around horrible. perhaps it was just a malfacture or a dud but i hate this and will have to re buy my daughter her barbie clothes...very disatisfied...

The 'house' IS cardboard - as mentioned very blatantly in the description - but it is ALOT CUTER than you can see/read from the description. I bought this is as a gift fro a 4 year old. Its recommended for 8+ - because of the making of the dolls. But with some help it can be done. I wanted a fairy/doll house- but you cannot find one for a reasonable price. I think this was the best compromise... being the price is low, the trade off is its not gonna last generations... but I was OK with that.

(More customer reviews)I have two older daughters who received these when they were 8 and 10 years old. They just love these dolls - they were able to decorate their dolls, then name them. Considering how much each girl loves glitter and jewels, the accessories to decorate the dolls were perfect.
I was surprised (pleasantly) at the durability of the dolls. The wood is much thinner than I would have expected, so I thought they would easily split. They did not, and have even withstood my younger daughter (now 4) taking one and running off with it. The girls would like another set in the future, and they are now 13 and 15. At their current ages, this seems like kitschy fun to them - and it would look cute in their rooms.
All in all, while there is not a whole lot of educational value (unless you want to consider the artwork and craft perspective), it is very entertaining and leaves you with something that will last (unlike a traditional 'toy').

He loves to change to outfits and will stay entertained for anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes playing (a long time for this age group). Joey is a great addition so that little boys can play with dress up dolls without having to use girl figures, and he also enjoys the different costumes and pretends with us each character. For the price it is great. The only thing is that if he drools on it, the paper becomes soggy so be careful if your child is a drooler.

Alex Toys Friends 4 Ever Bracelet Making Kit Review

They have had it for over a month now and are still creating bracelets. I have had to purchase more string for them but the foam discs have held up very well. They have also learned different patterns and made their own. This is a great rainy day activity even though my girls have sat on the porch on nice days and weaved away. Easy to learn, hard to put down.
