What a thrill to see the G.I. Joe's that I grew up with in the sixties and seventies. And to be able to pass those on to my child? Just had to buy them up.
Unfortunately, Hasbro does not make em like they used to.
Simply taking the shirt off of the Joe caused his arm to snap off at the elbow.
I recall these toys being able to take much more strain and intense battle recreations.
As these were originally sold as Wal-Mart exclusives for $10.00 in Nov - Dec., 08, I would be hard pressed to spend the money they are asking for something that breaks so easily.
I did call Hasbro and told them about the problem.
They sent me a mailer to send the soldier back to them for replacement, however, they cannot guarantee that it will be the same type that I sent them.
At least they're trying.
All in all, it is good to see the long box and the soldier again. Just be careful when you play with him.

It looks really nice as a display. the figures themselves aren't that great. They're kind of... stuck in the position that they are in. I keep them on the stand they came with, I can't do any other poses or anything. All in all though, it was worth it just for the Emperor's chair. I really, really, like it! It's scaled perfectly. And the plus side: I can use the base/ chair with other figures more up to date figures as well.
I'd recommend this to someone who is looking for a good Death Star 2 display, just get better figures!

HeMan Masters of the Universe Classics Action Figure Review

HeMan Masters of the Universe Classics Action Figure

"By the Power of Grayskull...I have the POWER!!!" This figure is, simply speaking, incredibly awesome. The line is called Masters of the Universe Classics, and with good reason. They are figures of classic characters for the modern age with a classic feel. Released exclusively by Mattel, He-Man and Beast Man were the first ones released back in December 2008 with Skeletor following in January. Why was Beast Man released before Skeletor? Who knows. This figure is incredible. Even more muscular than the 80's action figure, this He-Man's muscles are better proportioned with the body (no longer an 88 inch chest and a 12 inch waist) and, for all intents and purposes, is purely an updated version of the original, although this Classic figure truly does look like The Most Powerful Man in the Universe and could beat the living daylights out of the original and the 2002 versions combined. Extremely expensive now, no true He-Fan's collection is worth salt without this figure, but those of you unwilling to hand over $100 dollars for it will have a chance to get it for around $30 (including s&h) when he is re-released on the 16th of November, 2009. Sure, it won't be the exact same figure as the one released back in December of '08 (it'll have a few tweaks and a "The Original" sticker on the package) and probably won't be worth as much, but this is the definitive figure of He-Man, a figure no Masters fan can be without. Masters of the Universe Classics have very limited releases in very limited time frames. Get them while you can, I even have to plan my work schedule around some of the releases! The Most Powerful Man in the Universe's accessories are: Power Sword, Power Sword Half, Hero Shield, Power Axe and removable Armor.

The Classics He-Man (Re-Issue) features the phrase "The Original"Âin the front right corner of the packaging as an homage to the He-Man from the1984 line, and features a handful of improvements including thecorrection/reversal of the shoulders, a removal of the redness around the eyes, and a deemphasizing of the figure's overall body gloss; the fully-articulatedClassics He-Man is outfitted with removable chest harness, and is equipped withbattle axe, shield, Half Power Sword, and Sword of Power accessories. ClassicsHe-Man is equipped with removable power harness, shield, double-edged battleaxe, and twin halves of the Power Sword. He-Man is a direct descendent of KingGrayskull, charged with the task of defending the Power Sword against the likesof Skeletor and his minions. He-Man is assisted by a force field-generatingharness in addition to the combined halves of the Power Sword. Collector Barbie Barbie/Skipper Vintage #2 Set Review

Collector Barbie Barbie/Skipper Vintage #2 Set

I purchased two of this set, I liked the first one so much I had to buy another to debox. The dolls are lovely reproductions of the vintage dolls, though the original titian-haird 1964 Swirl Ponytail Barbie doll was not available with the bubble-gum pink lip and nail color. Coral lips and nails would have been more accurate. But it's a lovely doll nonetheless, and the Skipper doll is adorable. I hope Mattel creates more repro Skipper dolls, as well as Skooter and Ricky. This set comes with a cardboard backdrop that is based on Barbie's New Restyled Dream House, and it's a wonderful bonus. I have several of my vintage repro dolls displayed in front of it. Great set, definitely worth the price.

Barbie 50th Anniversary Barbie as Marilyn Monroe Blonde Ambition Pink Label Collector Doll Review

I grew up with Barbies as a child in the 70's, and now I collect them as an adult, these doll's are just pure fun and lots of fantasy!! I mostly collect repros and pop culture and I have all the Marilyn Barbies. This year is Barbies 50th anniversary and I must say they have really made buying hard to resist! This new Marilyn doll is gorgeous! I think Mattel did a wonderful job recreating Marilyn's soft face, dreamy sad eyes, and sexy open mouth lips. Her glamorous eye poping, neck plunging, gold dress is from one of her most famous photo's, she also wore the dress in the 1953 movie "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". There is also film footage of her receiveing an award in this dress. The doll comes with a pair of very cute gold sling back heels, dazzling golden earrings, her nails and toes are painted red, and also comes with a stand. The box has lovely art pictures of Marilyn with a bit of info about her career and influence on the cluture. I think this is more for a adult collector. This is the first doll in the "Blonde Ambition collection". I think anyone who loves Marilyn would be happy with this doll! I can't wait to see the next doll in the collection and hope Mattel will make a new Farrah Fawcett doll, I think it's time for a Farrah doll, as she was as much of a beloved icon of the 70's, as Marilyn was to the 50's!
UPDATE: The New Farrah Fawcett Barbie doll is coming in fall of 2011, she will be dressed in her famous red swimsuit poster!!

Campus Spirit - Barbie Doll and Ken Doll Giftset Review

Campus Spirit - Barbie Doll and Ken Doll Giftset

These Barbie and Ken dolls are so cute and I appreciate the company bringing them back as repros as I missed them the first time around. They certainly can remind us of how football has evolved over the years. Very nice outfits altho I think the shoes on Ken are a bit too small. These are such a nice addition to a collection. My daughter was a cheerleader in red and white so I wanted her to see these. I very much like the stadium background also with these dolls so one can put them on display without opening them.

Ken doll captures the winning football wearing his team number and helmet. Dolls cannot stand alone, or hold objects as shown.
